When does HAL typically start offering upsells?

Ah, that is part of the issue. This is our first cruise on Holland (1 of 3 - other two on Cunard and Seabourn) and I don't know what a PCC is.

Interesting.  I have gotten some very good deals by using the Private Sales and HAL PCC.  I never considered whether or not the Private Sale could be booked through a TA.   I do know  when going through a TA, I get the Casino Rate (like on HAL PCC).

The key is the agent using BOTH of your Mariner #s AND shopping in their travel agent booking systems AND looking at the fare codes and comparing.  It will not always display the private sale fares and and many agents don't know how to find them, or know that they are mariner ID# specific - not all past guests get the same offers, not even couples with exact same sailing history.

I tried it online with big box agent and could only input one number.  So maybe that was the problem - THANKS!

Private sale fares WILL NOT display using agency online booking systems as those access HAL inventory through a GDS like SABRE.  You need to call and make sure the agent has BOTH Mariner #s AND is shopping in the HAL agent system NOT the agency's booking software....... or just call HAL

I have never been offered an up sale. I wonder why. I usually book a balcony. Very rare have I booked just a window. I book with Holland when on board could that have something to do with it? I am 4 days away from a 3 star. I will be doing a 17 day in October.

Did you transfer or assign your booking to a TA?  If you kept it with HAL, you should be getting upsell offers (unless the cruise is fully sold out).

No, I didn't transfer it. I book directly with Holland. There are rooms available when I look in all categories. thank you for getting back to me. Maybe I should call and ask?

We got amusing "upgrade" emails from OV-porthole to HH on Lower Promenade - starting about three weeks out.  We used the private direct fares saved $100pp.

I would definitely check with HAL on  this (hopefully you have an assigned PCC).  Perhaps something in your settings (like no email address) is causing you not to receive upsells.
