Real Dumb Question

Recommended Posts

OK here goes....Why would anyone choose a cabin on the deck 6 when the promenade deck is right below them....especially above the CASINO?

There are a lot of new cruisers, first time, that know nothing about looking at deck-plans. Even less of a percentage on cruise critic. And maybe a lot are not bothered by noise. I have cruised for many years, and usually pick my cabin between cabin decks. Doesn’t stop me from still bringing earplugs.

I have never been bothered by the ship noises but often by the noise other passengers make late at night.  You can be as far away from the public rooms as possible and still have noisy neighbors.

I just booked on deck 6, basically got a great price on a balcony so I grabbed it.

So this will sound nuts but...I booked one on the Magic.  We were bringing our 5 year old on his first cruise and wanted a balcony for extra space.  I was scared he would somehow get out while we slept and I figured a broken leg or something would be better than the alternative.  I was near the doors in the ocean plaza on the bbq side.  The noise from inside was nothing but the bbq rattling around on rough seas was horrible.  My husband would say I'm nuts lol.

Another scenario is Guarantee bookings... people are willing to pay less to allow Carnival to select their cabin for them, and once the selection is made, you get what you get... I'm willing to bet that if you're not like the previous posters who are willing to deal with any potential noise, a lot of the time those less than ideal cabins go to the guarantees.

I have had deck 6 more than once on dream class. Often aft or aft wrap. I have no complainats

Biggest noise problem on any deck (I'm willing to bet)

is cabin doors near yours being slammed shut, day and night.

Sometimes it’s worth it for some people. We stayed in an inside stateroom in the Havana section on Deck 5 on the Vista, you shared a wall with the Havana Lounge which typically had a band playing until midnight most nights. We’re young and out that late anyways on a cruise, so it never bothered us. And the benefits of staying in a Havana stateroom were super worth it! Any cabin on a cruise ship is better than no cabin on a cruise ship!

I've booked on Deck 6 many times - I'm on Deck 6 again next week on the Dream. I love it - never heard much of anything from below (other posters are right, you hear folks on your own deck WAY more if anything) and I absolutely love being just a few steps away from all the action! Love me some Deck 6!

I have been in one of those very cabins, no noise problems at all.

I booked a last minute casino cruise fare on deck 6, the balcony was near the piano bar and I regretted it a few nights.  Not because of the noise, but rather that the singer was terrible.

We had an aft balcony on Magic over the comedy club, but since we were usually at the late comedy show, it wasn't a concern.

I was upgraded from a Deck 3 Interior to a Deck 6 Balcony once, so I am not complaining.

I bring a white noise machine.  Don't here anything other than the occasional door slamming.

Love the deck six location right by the glass elevators just off the atrium. Not bothered by the noise, and not far from Ocean Plaza, the shops, the theater, the comedy club. It's our favorite location on the ship. What I don't understand is why someone would want deck 1.

Deck 6 on most pre Dream Class Carnival ships is the Empress Deck and sandwiched between 2 other "residential" decks, so cabins above and cabins below. On these ships it also tends to be the location of the suites.

I booked a cabin on a deck with rooms above and below, but did not realize there was a door to the walking deck right next to the room and the crews party room was across the hall.  Between people slamming the deck door and crew going in and out it was a very loud room.  I would have been better off above a bar.

We had a 6th floor balcony on the Carnival Dream above the night club.  It never really bothered us.  I always bring ear plugs because DH snores louder than any noise we have heard from outside our room.

I leave Saturday on Breeze deck 6 for the EXACT rationale!!
