Comparison of Suite Perks ?

Recommended Posts

Hi - We have cruised on NCL, Princess and Celebrity for the last 25 years - we have found the absolutely perfect (!) itinerary on the HAL Zuiderdam (includes Quebec City and in Halifax on a weekend so we can tour museum on Oak Island) in 2020

Anyway...never cruised on HAL, but have become very spoiled with some of the Suites perks on the other cruise lines.  I understand some of the perks listed on the (very hard to find) HAL web-site - priority embarkation, concierge, special lounge, etc. but have not been able to determine if the Zuiderdam offers our FAVORITE suite perks - breakfast for suite guests only - in either a separate dining area for Suite Guests only (or in one of the Specialty Restaurants) and where Suite passengers can enjoy Dinner dining (Separate area ??)

Can someone offer a comparison of suite amenities on HAL to other cruise lines (we understand that we must book a Neptune Suite or higher to receive most Suite Perks)

Thank You !

Have never sailed Princess or NCL so can't compare those.  Neptune and Pinnacle suite guests can have breakfast in the Pinnacle Grill.  Same goes for access to the Neptune Lounge.  No suite-only dining room (like Luminae on Celebrity, for example) and no initial bar setups like in the RS on X other than an "ok" bottle of sparkling wine and a couple of bottles of water (Perrier, IIRC).  NS now have a "Nespresso-type" pod machine in the suite but in the Neptune Lounge there is also a machine for making fairly decent (and complimentary) lattes, espressos, etc., flavored waters, nice teas, juices.... They put out different kinds of finger foods all day (everything from yogurt and fresh fruit and bagels in the morning to little sandwiches, chips, crudites, desserts, sinfully good homemade chocolates … you get the drift.  No butler but there are two concierges in the Neptune Lounge, similar to the Michael's Club concierge.  You can have high tea in your suite setup daily if you want but they don't come around with a tea cart like on X.  You get unlimited laundry, pressing, and dry cleaning (anything folded comes in a wicker basket, wrapped in tissue paper with a foil seal on it).  You get fresh flowers in the suite and the first Gala night you get a corsage and boutonniere if you want them.  Priority boarding and tendering.  On-demand movies, music, your ship-board account, menus.  Just sailed on the Zuiderdam from Copenhagen to New York City last year - she's in great condition.  Oh, and overall we think the Vista Class ships feel quite similar in size/layout to the Millenium Class on X.

Anything else you're curious about, just ask.

Yes. Suite guests (Neptune and Pinnacle suites) can have breakfast in the premier specialty restaurant on Zuiderdam - the Pinnacle Grill.  You can also have breakfast served on your veranda with a mimosa...

For dinner you are dining with everyone else, though.

Compared to Other cruise lines HAL comes up short on suite amenities unless you are in one of the two new Pinnacle Class ships that offer the Club Orange private dinning room for all Suites and a few non suites passengers.  Non suite passengers pay a daily fee to use Clun Orange which takes away the Suites exclusivity, IMHO.

Several have pointed out that HAL doesn't offer as many perks for suites as Celebrity, etc.  However, check the prices.  You'll probably find HAL's suite prices are significantly lower than those on other lines.  The price difference may make up for the perks.
