Car Rental at cruise terminal

Recommended Posts

We would like to rent a car in St Kitts to drive around and do our own thing.

Does anyone know if there is a rental agency at the cruise terminal or the closest one for us to walk to.

Thank you in advance.

Closest one is Avis.

Walk through the port onto the main road, 2 to 5 mins away depending on where you exit the port.

Rental is not cheap here, plus you need a temporary driving license (about 30 US - please check).

Also we drive on the opposite side to the US.

A private taxi for the day may work out as better value.

temp license fee is $62.50 EC or about $24 US, for a one day visit I would as Terry suggests get a taxi for your visit. Let them do the driving

Thank you both for this advice. We are from Australia so drive on the same side as you so that would not be a problem but seems getting a temp licence could be a hassle.

Could you give me an approximate cost of a tour around the island in a taxi.

Thank you once again, I love that I can ask questions on these boards and the answers are always helpful 😀

The car rental agencies handle the temp licenses so it is not a hassle to get one. Show them your current license from home and you are good to go. A taxi is going to be about $40/hr.or so. St Kitts is relatively small so expect about 3-4 hrs to do a full island tour. They do charge a $10 entrance fee for Brimstone Hill Fortress.

Have booked a car with Avis.

A bit more expensive than some other places but we like the freedom to stop when we please.

You have been a great help paul58

Cheers
