LIVE on the Escape to Bermuda!

Recommended Posts

Clocktower mall before we had to board the ship at 230p.

Everything here will cost you a few arms and a leg. Only Visa and Mastercard accepted.

Check out the pharmacy in dockyard before you go back to the ship. They have some great snacks. A very nice local wahoo sandwich, fish that is.

Took the dockyard tram back to the ship. It's free.

Then it was all aboard time and watch for pier runners.

We had a few, but they made it.

Beautiful views of royal navy dockyard while we relax and drink a few before we leave port.

All the dark spots in the water photos are actually coral. They have the second largest coral reef in the world. Hence why they have so many shipwrecks.

The island of Bermuda is 1.5 miles wide at it's  largest part and you can throw a stone across at its smallest. Also, it's 21 miles long from tip to tip.

Some useful tips in the balcony room.

USB ports on the lamps. They don't charge as fast as the plug.

Also, a door lock if you have little ones or a drunk husband to keep the door shut. Lol!

Moderno for dinner.

It was alright, not my favorite. Just too much meat and a great salad bar on top of that.

The salad bar has a variety of dressings, sushi, soup, cheeses, olives, breads, meats and other odds and weird stuff.

Here are photos of the food.

First is all from the salad bar. Then bacon wrapped chicken. More stuff they want you to eat, the 4 bowls are to go with the meal. Then the dessert menu.

Another day over. We spent the late night at the skyline bar by the casino.

Both mudslides they made special for my wife.

We had the best bartender ever! Rodney deserves a shout out, who is shown in the photo.

After being very hung over after all the drinks we had. It was time for lunch at Savor.

Fish and chips, philly cheesesteak, tuna salad sandwich, fried chicken and key lime parfait.

Keep in mind all these meals are feeding 3 people.

Then it was back to the skyline for more of Rodney's special shots!

I only know the first one is a grasshopper. The others were his choice.

Dinner is at Cagneys as well... I got sick after consuming these shots. True story!

Really glad, because this place is amazing.. huge portions but very good!

My top 3 speciality restaurants on NCL are...

2. Cagney's

3. Le Bistro

In my steak and shrimp photo I also had a baked potato loaded.

They give you a potato and the waiter brings the chives, cheese, bacon and sour cream tableside for you to choose what you want on it.

Day 2 started off with a beautiful view from my aft balcony on deck 13.

We did the horseshoe bay beach transfer excursion.

Here's the low down on this...

The beach is nice except the water was extremely cold, Portuguese man o ware are all over... which can sting you. The beach chair rentals for 2 loungers and an umbrella were $50. Drinks are $12 a piece, $35 for beer buckets. Food is anywhere from $7 for a hot dog to $ 16 for a combo, maybe more for seafood specialties

We had hot dogs, they were all beef, grilled.  Decent for $7. We had a variety of drinks between the 3 of us.

Swizzle large $11

Mojito $12

Sex on horseshoe beach $12

Oh no! Would you not recommend going to horseshoe because of the man o' war? We were planning to go this week with our baby, but I don't want to put her in a bad situation.

Man o’war jellyfish could be at other beaches besides Horseshoe Bay.

You could be careful to avoid them since you are aware of them.

There is a secluded ,man+made beach at the Dockyard -King’s Wharf called Snorkel Park.

The jellyfish may not be at that beach. As I recall, there is calm water there, not too deep near the shore so it may be a good choice for baby.

The man o war are in the seaweed, which there was a ton of lining the beach. You could try and go, but we didn't go in the water because it was just too cold. We were watching the lifeguards scoop up all these creatures.

OP said s/he is only getting the social media package onboard ...

Once the Escape docked (actually, we started going "live" off the shorelines of St. George's - cellular tower's signals mostly good enough from our balcony, as long as you are on the "stronger" side to ping it.

On the Escape twice within the last 9 months, IMHO, her satellite WiFi wasn't all that bad, usable and adequate - just not for streaming, nevermind HD - won't spend any extra $$ to upgrade, period.

Agree. We had the unlimited package. No problems.

We took this cruise May 26-June 1.  Our first time on Norwegian (we’ve been on 6 cruises using Disney and Royal Caribbean).  Found the ship to be clean, the staff extremely nice and we adored Bermuda.

LOVED the no pressure upsells which Royal is well known for!  So pleasant to just be able to walk around the ship with no sales pitches.

We did not dine on board at any places where you would have to pay extra.  We were very disappointed in the food - diner quality food at best.  Sad since we liked the ship but will probably try Celebrity next cruise to Bermuda.

The pool situation was intolerable.  Days at sea you couldn’t get a toe near the pool.  We ended up in H2O in the hot tubs. Was surprised to see the ship staff putting stickers on the chairs to see if the “owners” showed up, or it they just saved the seats all day.

Discovered if you are a beach person it’s cheaper to do Horseshoe Bay Beach on your own than an excursion.  We caught a taxi at the dock for $7/person each way.  We did indulge in an umbrella/lounge chairs on the beach ($50, but well worth the cost to us).

Overall a nice cruise with beautiful weather

Thanks for all the info!  I appreciate the info about the man o war, I am a bit concerned about that, as we are coming in two weeks.  I'm trying to "keep an eye out" via posts like yours.  I know we can't really predict but I still like to stay informed.  I was under the impression that they are normally gone by this time of year.  Also appreciated the Cagney's menu.  Can't wait to see the dailies!
