Does anyone really care what color their card is?

Sherri🙂

I’m sure most people don’t care in other cruise lines but for some reason royal has managed the art of making you feel

important based on your status or just look at the “key” lol

IMHO, the color codes are more for the benefit of the ship's crew than for the cruisers.  Crew members can quickly identify people who are entitled to specific perks without having to read the small print on the card.   Royal has often used its subsidiary Celebrity to try out changes that are then implemented on Royal and Celebrity has had multiple color codes for years, with silver outranking gold:  Silver for suite class, Aqua for aqua class, Gold for concierge class, etc.

Speaking of which when we were pn the Mariner last month the C and A status printed on the bottom on the cards was a LOT smaller print that it used to be.  I was thinking that it was not going to be that easy for bartenders to read when D and above were using their vouchers during happy hour.

I have to finally spill the beans.  My Rhenium Level cruising status card is actually Hi-Vis Yellow and revs like a motorcycle engine when you press it on both sides.  I can actually remote start the ship from the dock with it.

I'm awesome like that.

It really helps to have the ship cooled down for me when I'm getting ready to get back on from a hot day out in port.

Now they have to leave room for your casino status and whether or not you have a drink package!

And a place for the Key icon if you purchased the Key!

I think two cards would be appropriate.......one for status, easily readable at 50 yards....and one for stateroom, purchases, etc.

I never really cared....but when I placed my order at Johnny Rockets and then after getting the total pulled out my Purple card on the Anthem...and I was immediately greeted with a "you should have showed that first" and the total got zeroed out, extra fries just added to the order, and over all the whole demeanor changed it made me take notice.   And the people behind me did to....so I was greeted with frowns when I turned around to get a seat...so I just slipped it back into my pocket to keep my little secret to myself again.  😉

Just got off Mariner. Cards were blue, stayed in balcony cabin. Had the drink package noted on the card but not the dining. Not a problem making dinner reservations but when we went into Playmaker's we were charged for the food. Waiter told us we have to announce that we have a dining package that they don't know. ??

If the card shows your pic when swipped, why can't all the important info be on it too??

Tired of getting charged for drinks when i have bev pkg. (Yes i tip)

Wouldn't it just make less work for everyone. Less trips to guest services. Less staff to fix adjustments.

It is there, some staff are just to lazy to look.

I was in the 101st so fully aware of bar colors. Precious metals, Gold is worth so much more than Silver. How did the military get it so wrong?  Lol

That's because the O-1 rank is actually supposed to be brass when the ranking system was developed.  O-4 is also a brass oak leaf which then leads to a silver oak leaf.

Hmm, every time I have done a specialty dining, with a package, they knew, and the bill was done based on the package.

Not exactly.

I have to find the link, but I found a very nice treatise on the development of rank titles and insignia.

Originally, O-1s had NO insignia. 😄

This is being reported on the current Navigator sailing and will be fleet wide (at least for Freedom and below classes)

Junior suite cards are the standard blue

Full suite guests cards are SILVER

Pinnacle and Masters in Club Royale are GOLD

This change took place last week

Neither here nor there really, but the first sailing for Navigator with the new Seapass colors was the Memorial Day cruise - May 27th.  I was on it - in a Grand Suite - and had a silver card.

I spoke with the Concierge about it and it was a change made by shoreside starting on that sailing.  Throughout the four days they were using handmade and crudely printed signs to replace the "Gold Card" signs in the various reserved seating spots around the ship.  It was confusing to many of the staff as well.  When I showed up at Chops on Day 2 for the suite breakfast, the sign still said "Gold Card."  By the time I was finished eating and left, they had a handmade sign in place.  The signs said something to the effect of "Reserved for Concierge Suites and Pinnacle Club Members" or something to that effect.  I should have taken some pictures I guess.

Dan.

That sounds reasonable

1-2 years ago can’t remember the exact moment now royal use to write your crown and anchor status 🏆on the sea pass large bold words you could see 🧿it a mile away. Now they got rid of it and it’s super hard to read 📖anyone status anymore. I remember some blue sea pass guess with higher status to flash 🤸🏼‍♂️or get attention to their cards, since the words are smaller now you can flash all you want but all I see is a blue card 🎫hence less people are showing off their cards.

On ships that I sail I only find people sailing for the first time or super low crown and anchor level 🔻with their cards in a lanyard ( I can tell it’s convenience for them or they might think that’s the best way to carry a seapass) and of course those on a suite 🛁also with lots of points that make sure it’s hanging outside your T-shirt 🤪

Seems like you are describing almost everyone  on a ship . " Those new guys use a lanyard.  Those guys sailing in a suite and those that have a lot of points"

That was my experience too. The first time I told them because I wanted to make sure it was included.  The second time I didn't bother because I thought it was all good.  Got a bill for the Nachos second time around.  They told I need to let them know.  Seems odd to me. Izumi knew I had it and explained to me how it worked.

On the Oasis of the Seas

Sky Class is Plum.

Star Class is Black.

Actually on our 2 Star Class cruises on Oasis our card was plum colored, unless they have changed it this last year.  Our Anthem card is also a plum color.

Next, they’ll take away all those JS perks too.

G-d forbid!  We need our double points for our upcoming sailing.  That was the reason we booked JS for it.
