Symphony, Jr Suite, dining in Coastal Kitchen

We might go every night, it really depends on the itinerary and ship.  When we have late port days, we tend to eat in the WJ for dinner.  We have really enjoyed CK on Anthem and have had no issue getting our requested time on any night when we were in a JS.  We always sail September/October timeframe and will likely not sail from Port Canaveral because we know that CK and the SL are full in those months.  Only a can't miss deal will have us sailing from there.  We enjoy CK for breakfast and lunch though, so that does drive us to want to book a full suite.  Might just have to keep sailing Anthem.

We do breakfast and lunch most every day. Never crowded. Harmony GS for Aug 18 was $2600 all in. 😁

I have been watching those go by for the last three weeks.  Until my DH knows what he is going to do with his current job situation, I am not booking anything.  We will just stick with what we have booked for now.  If he starts a new job soon, there is no way he could sail in August and October.

Looking forward to being SCPP (STAR Class Pinnacle peeps) on Allure in March.

12 days of having red towels placed all over the ship for us. 😇

Looking forward to being a LCNPP (Low Class Not Pinnacle Peep) on Symphony in January.  I *will* be in a Junior Suite, though, so I'm curious:  is mid-January normally a time when I might expect a lot of PPs (Pinnacle Peeps)? I'm hoping to be able to have a few dinners if the Coastal Kitchen if I can.

Symphony is fine, Pinnacles like whatever ship is in Pt Canaveral.  And January last year wasn't bad.

Except for the Noro. 😉

Interesting!  Did not know that it was a big deal sailing out of Port Canaveral.  And I am definitely keeping my fingers crossed for ** No Noro ** !!!

PC is a Pinnacle magnet. Twice as many people live within 500 miles of PC vs Ft Lauderdale/Miami

The discussion is about Coastal Kitchen and people are sharing their experiences.  If you find the discussion useless, move on.  There are too many people that have access to Coastal Kitchen and it is only going to get worse.  The cruise line needs to address the issue.

Thanks

Would you go every night if the menu didn't change every night?

I dislike 3 of the menus as it is. So you can have my seat.

I'd be very surprised if a JS passenger could get a good slot on fillet or lobster night

The original concept only had two menus, Royal didn't expect folks to eat there every night.

With the two menus original menus we'd eat there probably 4 times, so it wouldn't change much for us.

Are you giving up your seat in the SL too?

Asking for a friend.

Why do you think PC is this way. I know you can nearly walk there if if your luggage wasn’t filled with all your formal attire. Others besides yourself?  I know we have a lot of retirees up our way in Daytona/Ormond Beach and not to mention the Villages.

Probably not since Oasis Class is rather unique.

We go up there after lunch and play cards.

We rarely take a window seat. 😉

You think Oasis and Allure were less crowded in SL/CK because of the nice DL (that’s going away on at least Oasis and likely Allure)?

Do a web search on big radius tool. Type in 500 miles. You'll find your answer

Not at all, Oasis has been the most crowded since she came north.  There are 19 pins on Mariner this week. Probably due to Casino giveaway, but there were several other choices

Sailing on the Allure this week. 12 Pinnacles on board, same as last week. Concierges informed us that 96 Pinnacles are booked on the Allure sailing September 8, 2019.

Wow, I don't think that's a casino cruise. The two I saw on Allure were August 18 and September 1

It sounds like it might be a casino cruise. Different lists go out to different people. The list I have shows Allure on 9/29

I never knew there were so many offers out

FWIW, Laura's 'free' cruise this weekend cost $500 🤣

Only 7 more to go 😱

This weekend isn't even on my list. My list has the Mariner from 7/12 - 9/27

$500??? I booked a 3 night on the Mariner for $125.11 and that includes prepaid gratuities. A 4 night was only $139.82

Did she upgrade?

Unfortunately,  I see JS being dropped.

And it's really not that bad most of the time, but I can see it getting worse. Especially on the good menu nights.

Easiest fix is to go back to 2 menus.

Totally agree.  I never did understand why RCI included the JS cabins for CK dinner in the first place. There are so many dining venues all over the ship...why insist on CK?  Dining packages are available also.

Many surprised they have to knock on the door to enter for dinner (key does not work). I once made the mistake of being seated near the door...never again.  One large family without key access kept going in and out..in and out...knocking loudly on the door to be let back in each time.  Disturbing dinner for sure.

Some JS pax, once in, are confused as to if they can utilize the SL...drinks?  There is never a guarantee that you will get into CK if you are booked in a JS, and can't book in advance.  With CK already too crowded, and the small kitchen already not being able to get food out fast enough with too many tables...makes sense to limit to full suite and Pinnies.

OK...flame suit on!

That's a good point. The servers don't know what cabin you're in. They don't check cards. They'll take drink orders at dinner and not charge for them.

But it works for us.  We will just not get seated near the door.
