Marriott near Cape Liberty

Recommended Posts

We are cruising out of Cape Liberty and looking for a room the night before.  We will be using our Marriott points for a free night.  Our choices are Renaissance Newark airport, Residence Inn Newark/Airport, or the Courtyard in Elizabeth. Any suggestion? We are not familiar with the area at all and will just be driving in the day before.  We will probably get in around dinner time, so won't have time for any sight seeing.

Residence Inn and Courtyard Elizabeth are on International Blvd easily accessible from Turnpike exit 13A.  This is the only area at the airport that has a choice of non hotel restaurants.  The Courtyard has a restaurant and Residence Inn offers free breakfast.  IHOP, Ruby Tuesday’s, Applebee’s, Johnny Rockets, and the Jersey Gardens Mall food Court are your nearby food choices.  Based on the feedback on this forum, I would pick Residence Inn.  The Renaissance is on Route 1&9 and is trickier to get to.  It has an on site restaurant.

i believe there will be a parking charge for all 3 hotels.

Have you checked the Newark Liberty International Marriott thats right by the main terminals? Might be nicer than both the Residence and Courtyard without the issues of getting to the Renaissance.

No, we don't have enough points for that.

The free breakfast sounds appealing at the Residence, but sharing a queen size bed does not.

The Renaissance is sorely in need of a redo and the last time I stayed there, I wound up walking out. Long story, I am titanium for life and the service was terrible, staff was rude and the hotel really is not looking that nice in public areas.

All 3 hotels charge for parking.  I'd go with either the CY or the Residence Inn.  You can book a rate at the CY that includes breakfast.

TBH, look at rates vs points.  It may make sense to just pay for the room and use your points for something more interesting.

We have talked about saving out points for something else, just haven't decided.
