Signature Beverage Package & VAT (taxes) - how does it work?

Recommended Posts

Does anyone have any experience with the ports where taxes are charged for drinks while you have the Signature Beverage package?

We'll be sailing in Spanish waters next year and, as I am sure many of you know, VAT gets charged on drinks and other similar purchases.

If you have the SBP, do they charge VAT to your on board account separately or is it absorbed in the package (no additional cost)?

Thanks so much if anyone can advise.

How does it work in Port Everglades, with that first drink on board? 😁 Do you have to pay taxes then?  Probably work the same way!

if you have the SBP you have paid up front, there are no further charges for any local tax or VAT, if you  dont have the package then any local tax or vat is applied.

Thank you 😄  for a very helpful answer.

Much appreciated.

That’s what I guessed but wasn’t sure and appreciate your clarification 😄

NO delivery at sea necessary on my last cruise for alcohol purchases pre cruise out of FLL so I’m guessing taxes did not apply?  At least we didn’t have to pay any to the best of my recollection.

We rarely have SBP so that is why I asked.
