Great cruise tool!

Recommended Posts

I'm happy to see this thread has a lot of give and take.  I know I've learned so much on these boards and I thought the two purchases I made were good ones.  We can all debate how connected we should be while on a cruise.  I think I came home to over 500 emails!  But they do make commercials about the airport wall huggers, so it is real.  If it makes you happy, isn't that what we're trying to achieve on a vacation?

And I STILL don't understand why people have to take TWO of everything!! The caveat to that is e-readers, where we do take two. Why? Because I read history/historical fiction, and she reads astrophysics!!! :classic_ohmy::classic_blink:😄

And if you both read the same things, lol? You'd share a chaise lounge and have to wait at the end of the page for the other one to catch up?

Mr. B. and I do on occasion read the same books (Lee Child; Daniel Silva) and once or twice we've read a book "in tandem". I distinctly remember "City of Thieves". He was a few chapters behind me, and he wanted to know if they "find the xxxs". I said, don't you want to find out for yourself? We do tend to read at different times of the day -- so I guess you and your wife COULD share an e-reader if you were reading the same stuff, if you do that as well.

Great quote from City of Thieves: Protagonist "wasn't in the top 100 chess players in Petersburg ... but he knew all of them by name."

I hope you don't mind that I took a detour away from electric toothbrushes.

What worked for us was using the 220 adapter with this: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07QFZ4FRY/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o05_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

We also had a land based trip with 220 adapters in several denomination of plug sort.  It is inexpensive and works well in any country.

As for taking more than one of things?  I think we are all adults here and can take whatever devices and products serve us.  I found this one excellent and offer it to share my experience only.

News flash from a friend currently

onboard the Symphony. They are installing new plugs in staterooms that include USB ports! They have not gotten to her room yet so she does not have any details to share.

I am on Symphony now, and we have the new USB ports in our cabin.  They are on the dresser area.  Attached are some photos.

What type of cabin is that?

Roy

We are in an A1 on Deck 9, not in our usual E1 on Deck 7.  It is our 30th milestone, and we also took our 25th milestone upgrade on this voyage.

I assume all the window and balcony staterooms will be implemented in the same way, since they all have the same layout.

And the new USB ports are poorly labeled, IMO.

It says 2.1A - is that the sum of the two ports?  Or the rating for each?  If the latter, then that "tablet" and "phone MP3" is wrong, as tablets tend to take a higher output than do phones/players.  And if the former, is this an "intelligent" or "dumb" set, and what your each port provide.

Yes, this is a bit "techie", but for best performance of your devices and their batteries, you want to match device requirements with the power power supply.

2.1 is the standard charging capacity for an Ipad.

Yes - Which means, if that's the total for both ports, what's the story when you also plug in your phone with the iPad.  Or two iPads.

Bad labeling with insufficient info.
