Military Discount and World Club Membership

I can't help you with your first question although I''m sure there will be some ex military who can. with regard to your second question when you make a booking with your TA when they enter your details the Cunard site will automatically show your world club membership status.

My dad has only had to supply it first time he used it I think. Likewise I get some partner company discount and that gets applied automatically each time I book.

Yes you need the military service credit form. I always receive it after call the Cunard 800 number in the USA to request that the form is sent via email.

Since 2012 or so my veteran status has been retained and the onboard credit automatically appears in any pending reservation where my CWC number is given.

Note that while the web page suggests that the benefit is available to active and retired members, the form includes a checkbox for veterans with an honorable discharge, with minimum service length of 2 years, or six months in a combat zone.

Once submitted and approved , the Military OBC remains for every cruise after that.

CCL Shareholder OBC must be resubmitted for every cruise.

My CWC info is attached to my Cruise Personalizer I believe by my email address.

I was about to ask the same question.

 

As UK citizens both my wife and I qualify for the 'Military' rates which are well worth having and on our last Cunard 'cruise' these totalled in excess of $1K.

 

And that was before the the $260.00 Carnival Shareholder OBC was applied.

With Cunard and P&O bookings in the UK we get the enhanced OBC.

 

I seem to recall however that when I booked our Carnival Dream cruise back in 2017 I was given an online 'Military' rate.

Yes , Carnival occasionaly has a Military Rate on select sailings but it is rarely the best rate currently available to you.

However they do not offer a Military OBC at all.

Yes, Carnival has an actual military rate rather than military OBC. On my one Carnival booking it was slightly more expensive than another promotional fare.

The military OBC rates I've seen are $25pp (2-6 nights),  $50pp (7-13), $125 (14-21) and $200pp (22+ nights) - through the Defence Discount Service.  If you've been able to get in excess of $1K then I think I'm missing out somewhere.  Would you mind letting me know where to access the higher rates.

As with much on the Cunard UK website, any search for military OBC leads to an error page.  

 

However, on Complete Cruise Solutions it comes up with this, which clearly states that the military OBC can only be accessed through the Defence Discount Service, which is how I've done it.   But the maximum shown is $200pp (even for a world cruise) so I'm still puzzled about the earlier reference to "in excess of $1K".

 

Do you offer military benefits?

Yes, military benefits are applicable to UK citizens and those who have served in the US military.

The amount of on board spending money per person, is applicable for the 1st and 2nd passengers only and depends on the duration of the cruise:

7-13 nights	US$50 per person
14-21 nights	US$125 per person
22 nights+(including world cruise)	US$200 per person

 

 

Please note the latest this benefit can be applied is 7 days before departure and it is not possible to apply the Military benefit once you are on board.

 

Additional Information

Good morning Tigrou.

 

Both my wife and I have been registered for the 'Carnival' Military Discount scheme since it's inception which was well before the introduction of 'The Defence Privilege Card', issued by the Defence Discount Service, that I note you allude to in the comment above.

 

Checking my records the  cruise that I referred to was actually booked through one of my travel agents on 21 November 2017 after I had obtained a number of quotes from other agents.

 

Of course the benefits do not always apply as when in December 2016 we sailed to New York in Queens Grill on Queen Mary 2 we received nothing due to the very heavily discounted rate.

 

We do now of course each have the 'Defence Privilege Card' and very happy we are with it. More so my wife who received a mouth watering £3K plus discount on her new SUV last year.

 

By the way, what survive were you in: we were both Royal Navy.

The Defence Card is a very handy piece of kit.  After so many years of travelling in the States and being offered regular military discounts, it's good to finally receive a little acknowledgment at home.

 

We were both Royal Air Force.  DH did 23 years, I only did '5 minutes' (his terminology) as I left when we married so I could become a camp follower - he could be posted anywhere, my trade had very limited locations.  Later we both ended up back in the fold as 'civvies', him RAF and me tri-Service, and then both (very briefly) with the Army.
