While I do not know how much you need to play to generate these deals, I have heard that you need to earn at least 1000 points during the previous cruise(s). There are two deals - the casino rate (not offered on every cruise) which starts at 10% discount and the casino offer, which is an email (or direct mailer) that HAL send you for a free or greatly reduced cruise (these are very limited and go very quickly). Rare Lady Arwen Posted July 6, 2019 #3 Share Posted July 6, 2019 We are offered a casino discount for all of our cruises booked with HAL. The discount is usually between 20-30% per person, depending on itinerary and sail date. We save hundreds of dollars on each cruise. Just priced a Nieuw Amsterdam sailing in 2020 and our discount was about $450.00 per person (Canadian) on a 7 night cruise. Now, you will ask "How do we get this casino discount?" The answer is that nobody knows! You just have to visit the casinos onboard on a regular basis during your cruise. It does not matter how much you bet. We are very low spenders, but we spend a couple of hours a day in the casino. Never spend more than $300.00 per cruise. We even asked in the casino how play is rated to receive this discount and they said that also do not know how HAL decides who gets it and who doesn't. I was told by a what seemed to be a knowledgeable player in the casino who always gets offers that time spent counts as well as points earned. The dollar amount factors it seems to be the lowest factor. I usually get casino discounts but on some cruises there isn’t one. My latest Prinsendam cruise is an example. There simply wasn’t any casino offer for it. My previous ones had them. I’m guessing as it was the final year of the Prinsendam, but don’t know for sure. The dollar amount factors it seems to be the lowest factor. Dollar amount spent is normally not the way most casinos rate players and give out deals. Normally, they look at how many dollars you WAGER in total, not how much you won or lost. For example, if you placed one bet for $100 and lost and quit, you would be rated ALOT lower than if you played $1 bets 500 times before losing your $100. Its called "coin in". Thats why if you want to earn offers, you are better off playing high return games (like Blackjack or Video Poker) than regular slot (lower returns). Its alot more complicated than this I know, but this should give you the general idea.
mlfontaine Posted July 7, 2019 #6 Share Posted July 7, 2019 I just recently received a 'casino' rate on my most recent booking. It reduced the price of our 11 day cruise significantly. I think I probably gambled and lost ;) about $700. Our discount was more than double what we gambled.
tv24 Posted July 7, 2019 #7 Share Posted July 7, 2019 We received a casino rate discount a couple of times giving us some good savings. But on a recent cruise where the price was extremely low, a super-bargain, there was no casino rate. And when I've asked around about this, including with the cruise sales person on board, there is no adequate explanation as to how and why casino discounts appear. In fact the sales staff explained that they cannot see a casino rate/discount when they book and that it will either appear or not appear after the cruise is booked. Added to the mystery. Djptcp Posted July 7, 2019 #8 Share Posted July 7, 2019 I receive 3-4 casino offers per year and they range from free insides (we book Neptune Suites with these offers as the rates are greatly discounted) with casino Fun Play to VIP Casino cruises with more casino Fun Play, free drinks for me and spouse while in the casino, gifts, and welcome aboard parties. Deposits are non-refundable and bookings are for Guarantees only. I only play slots and DH only plays table games and I am the one who receives the offers. We take the offers several times a year - Oosterdam this past Feb. and the Nieuw Statendam this upcoming Dec.
wyobean Posted July 7, 2019 #9 Share Posted July 7, 2019 We just booked while cruising. A casino rate showed up, looks like a couple hundred dollars. The Future cruise Consultant was able to see it.

The other is the casino discount that you receive whenever you book a cruise. The discount rate is between 10-30% off the regular fare depending on itinerary and sail date. We been receiving this discount for a few years now and it has applied to every cruise we've booked. Just saved $900.00 (Canadian) for a cruise in 2020!
