credit for cruise tours ?

Recommended Posts

Has anybody ever gotten credit toward Princess status levels for days spent on Princess cruise tours?  We’ve done several and it seems to me that Princess should give us credit for those days since they cost so much more than just cruising.  Other lines have adopted policies based on $$$ spent.

Tours aren't counted.

No. Our cruise tour was 12 days total but shows up as just 7 days for the cruise portion in my cruise history. At least Princess allows people to move up to the next level based on cruise days or cruise credits.

We did a 13 day connoisseur cruise tour and a 15 day connoisseur cruise tour - both in Alaska. Each of them only gave credit for the 7 days of cruising - nothing for the land portion.

No credit for land portion of a cruise tour.  I agree that it doesn't seem to make sense; especially since you can book a cruise without a land tour but cannot book a land tour without a cruise.  Since a cruise line is in business to make money, it seems that they would base loyalty club level based upon money spent with them rather than on number of cruise credits or days aboard ship.

so, cruise costs, including port fees and if you take the Princess insurance ... PBP ... additional drinks/packages ... ship stores ... specialty dinners  ... Captains table ... UBD

what about excursions thru Princess, spa, casino ?

that’s my point exactly...you only get credit for number of days....guess that would discourage any other spending

Is there any proof that the lines that give loyalty credit for onboard spending (such as HAL) take in more dollars per pax per day than similarly positioned lines? HAL also charges significantly more for excursions, internet and spa services than Princess--perhaps that is to counter the effect of pax making purchases just to move up a Mariner star level.

Anyway, that point is off point to the original topic of your thread. A pre-cruise or post-cruise land tour does not count toward loyalty status on any line I know of. Whether it doesn't count in days or doesn't count in dollars is moot--zero credit is zero credit.

The Princess Captain’s Circle loyalty program is based on either the number of days sailed (onboard and completed) or cruise credits. Either/or.

FYI, it is not based on the number of cruises since as a single, you pay double fare and get two cruise credits. Book a full suite double occupancy and you each get two cruise credits. Book a full suite as a single and you get three cruise credits.

Just take the classes and get Elite status/Commodore without ever taking a Princess cruise. 🙄🙄🙄

They should count the dollars that goes into their books as revenue.  I would assume that would exclude port fees, taxes, and what the contracts leave in the hands of the contractors operating the spa, casino, and art sales.
