Royal Suite vs Penthouse

No one really ever needs a PH but should one experience one if the opportunity arises?

It was ‘Project gal’ on cruise critic whose reviews made me feel we should give a PH a go and we did! No regrets!

The RS offers every perk and service you could ever want on a cruise...The PH offers decadence....The only word I can think off to describe the experience...

I remember being invited by sue aka project gal to a party in her penthouse many years ago.  It was wonderful

We’ve done RS twice on X. Has the chance to get PS on Constellation for $1500 pp more. Cabin opened up early in prices - not a Move Up.  In the end, we didn’t do it.  We fins the RS and it’s benefits more than enough for folks  and the main extra with a PS is space.

But it it’s a very personal decision. If the price is right to you, you have the $$, and it’s something you’ve always wanted to do, go for it!

Chemmo nailed it in first comment to this thread...on S Class there is VERY negligible difference between RS and PH... certainly when compared with M Class...we sail almost exclusively in those tiers and would grab a PH on an M Class every time, and often select RS on S Class even when PH is available.

Now, we viewed the photos, videos, and reviews of the Edge's Iconic Suite with trepidation, and wound up pulling that booking and grabbing a PH on Equinox AND a PH on Summit for a COMBINED lower price than the Edge sailing... we are feeling VERY good about that move!

Sounds like you have a couple of nice cruises to look forward to!

We were in a sky suite on the Edge.  While not perfect, the ship was wonderful!  The suite deck and amenities are great!  I actually compared our March 2020 rate that we are paying for an S2 on the Edge vs a Celebrity suite on the Equinox,  prices are about the same.  However, the Edge IMO is really something you should try someday, even in a lesser suite.

We've actually stayed in the PH on the reflection 3 years ago, Prior to this new bidding process received a call one day before the cruise. Was offered this wonderful upgraded room. Didn't realize it was the PH. Took the offer which wasn't cheap. My impression was wow. WE TOO ARE IN OUR EARLY 60's and it was an amazing experience. The bathroom was just out of this world. This will be our third Celebrity cruise since and haven't stayed in anything but now a Royal suite. If I get the opportunity I would do it again BUT it would depend on the upgrade price. I would have to say it was not only the room but the way we were treated. They couldn't do enough for us. We had a malfunction in our room safe -wouldn't close - 10 minutes prior to our dinner reservation. We contacted the butler and within 10 minutes we had the head of housekeeping and head of maintenance in our room apologizing that it took to long to respond to our request. ( the battery died in the safe) When we showed up to dinner 10 minutes past our reservation, we were greeted with no problem " we heard about your problem and hope it was fixed and escorted to our table". I just think that the butlers in these rooms are the best, and your given that little extra attention. Hey like I said you'll be a big hit if your in a meet and greet group and they do a cabin crawl. I'd probably go for it again. Good luck
