Which aft-corner NS on Zuiderdam?

Recommended Posts

Hi!

I'm getting around to booking another Holland America cruise. I'm looking at the 10-day Panama Canal Sunfarer aboard the Zuiderdam.  ALL of the aft-corner SB Neptune suites are currently available.  Which would you pick?

Thanks!

If you like a large fully-covered balcony choose deck 5. If you want just partially covered, go for decks 6 or 7.  On 7 you're closer to the Neptune Lounge. Personally I would choose 5.  Port or starboard makes no difference to me because it's just the luck of the draw whether you get the left or right locks of the Canal.

We had 5191 last month to Iceland and really liked the wrap and fully covered area

I think the stateroom is a tad smaller for the Deck Five SBs.  We didn't notice because we loved the huge covered balcony so much.  We've had deck five SBs on Westy and Oosterdam.  We have booked a Deck Five SB for our next cruise on Zwiederdam.  We did book on deck eight for our next cruise on Nieuw Amsterdam because those are the most covered on those ships.  NAM doesn't have the huge balconies on five.

Definitely Deck 5 aft corner NS for amazing photos with nobody blocking your view, sun block until late afternoon, A/C just a few steps away, large table for drinks/dining, and room for lots of your friends.

Thanks SO MUCH for the pictures and info!  So deck five it IS! LOL!  But you know...there doesn't seem to be a poor choice with any of them!

We did a partial Panama Canal cruise on the Z in cabin 5191 and it was FANTASTIC!  The views of the canal operations cannot be beat and it is something that we will never forget.  The balcony is so huge that we had 40 people on it one time and it was not crowded - inviting some new Roll Call friends to share the experience with us made it even more special.  Cabin 5190 will work just as well.

Yes, the cabin is "a bit" smaller than the main Neptunes, but we did not really notice the difference.  For any cruise with alot of scenic viewing I would select one of these two cabins without hesitation!!

We had one of those aft Neptune Suites on the Oosterdam in February only because we had to book a guarantee in order to receive the greatly reduced casino promotion and couldn't book a specific NS. Hated the location and the suite was much smaller than a regular Neptune Suite - same amount of furniture and we kept bumping into things. Our HAL agent told us afterwards that the best Neptunes go to those who paid full price and what's left goes to the guarantees. The wraparound deck was nice and you will enjoy it on a Panama Canal cruise. It just wasn't great for us - way too far from the casino and the Neptune Lounge and I had mobility issues at the time.
