Escort on board by a senior officer

Recommended Posts

Afternoon, folks. We are sailing on the Liberty on Sunday in the Villa Suite. I will try to post pictures and notes if I can put my drink down long enough. For now, though, a question. One of the listed perks of this suite (as well as the Royal Suite) is an escort on board by a senior officer. I am assuming that will be the concierge. Does anybody know how that actually works? Usually Monday or Tuesday before a Sunday departure sailing in a suite I will have received an email from the concierge, but nothing yet. I sent an email yesterday asking about a couple of reservations and haven't heard on that. Looking forward to the trip!

We will be in the same suite in March and I look forward to hearing how you liked the suite and what all the concierge did for you.  We have never had a concierge so this will all be new for us.  Any helpful tips will be appreciated.  Have a wonderful cruise.

Back before the untimely death of the Upgrade Fairy, my daughter and I received an upgrade to the Royal Suite.  We did receive an email from the Concierge offering to escort us to the ship and asking what time we would be arriving.  I cordially declined the escort offer because we didn't want to put a time constraint on our morning in Barcelona.   We didn't want to miss exploring something because we had promised to meet him a a certain time.  He did come by later.

I've sailed in that suite on the Freedom (Apr. 2017 & Mar. 2019) and neither time were we contacted to be escorted on board by an officer.

That said, I agree with vickiw0318 - I wouldn't have wanted to commit to the time constraint (i.e. arriving at the pier at a certain time).

We sailed on IOS in April 2019 in the royal suite. The concierge emailed me a week before departure. I told him we'd be at the port at noon and he was waiting there and he walked us on. We got our room key, got food at the windjammer and brought is back to our room for a peaceful meal before 1PM (before all of the rooms were available).

Was able to sail on Enchantment in the Royal Suite out of Port Canaveral 2 years ago. We got a e-mail from the concierge, asking when we were planning to arrive. Said about 10:30am. The lady at the check-in walked us to the Suites waiting lounge. The concierge came over to us and asked if we were ready. We walked past everyone and were the first on board. He took all our carry -on bags and said we could go to the cabin when ever because it was ready. All we had to do is let anyone who asked that know we were in the Royal Suite. They treated us really well. twice a day the would surprise us with very nice treats. Champagne, Wine, sushi, Chocolate strawberries. I just wish we could sail in the Royal Suite each time now. It was nice. So to answer you're question- the officer that came to meet us was the concierge himself. Happy Sailing!!!!

So it turns out that I jumped the gun. In my defense, my wife and kids are with my in-laws. I have pretty much nothing to think about this week except the cruise. I shall enjoy that significantly more than reporting to work in the morning.

The concierge contacted me tonight. It is Tuesday before we sail on Sunday. The email was the same one I have received the two other times I have sailed in a suite on Royal. However, it also had this paragraph:

"In order to make your boarding experience as smooth and pleasant possible, I will be ready at the terminal for your arrival. I will appreciate if you send me a quick e-mail with your mobile number and estimated arrival time to the         cruise terminal, that way I can communicate more efficient with you and coordinate in a better way your check-in process. I will escort you from the Cruise terminal directly to your Presidential Suite. My mobile number is attached to           the end of this e-mail."

I will let you know how this all goes. I intend to board as early as possible. I *love* Galveston, and I get there two days in advance to enjoy it. BY embarkation morning, I am ready to get on the ship. I anticipate enjoying going straight to my cabin.

That is something to look forward to.  Since we will be sailing out of Galveston, we will probably be at the port early as we will have the day before to see everything.  Hope you have time to post pictures, it is always better than the on line pictures.  Happy sailing.

If it were Richard Fain, Adam Goldstein and Michael Bayley escorting me to the Grand or Royal Suite  that would be a different story for me(:   I would give the earliest time possible and have a few drinks and share my love of Royal Caribbean with them(:

One of my requests would be to have Enya's Orinoco Flow playing as I entered the suite!

In the old days of the early eighties when you boarded the ship everyone was offered a guide  to show them to their room.  A bit difficult to do these days with the amount of people they sail with now.
