Recommended Posts

Looking for a pre cruise hotel in San Juan , Puerto Rico.  Looking for safe, reasonably priced hotel with easy ride to port. TIA

We stayed at a Courtyard that was not real close to the port but fairly reasonable and safe.. Our friends stayed at the Hotel Plaza de Armas which is walking distance to the port. It is an old hotel that was reasonable and safe. They also took a food walking tour which was close to the hotel.

Check the Puerto Rico forum or Trip Advisor  as this question does not pertain to the Norwegian Cruise Line forum.

I'm sailing out of San Juan in January. We've booked the El Geronimo, which is a 5 min Uber to the port. For $150/night it was a better option to us than the hotel NCL tried to put us in at a cost of over $500/night.

When embarking in San Juan, NCL uses the Pan American piers...across the bay from Old San Juan. There aren’t any hotels super close, but many with a short Uber ride.

Hotel Plaza de Armas is walking distance to some cruise piers, but not the one NCL uses for cruises that start and end in San Juan. They use the Pan American Piers, across the bay from Old San Juan.

Thank you for this information.

Did not realize that NCL docked way over there, as opposed to downtown.

Thanks,

Can't say it is 100% of the time, but for cruises leaving vs visiting San Juan Pan Am seems to be the place.

Terminal is kind of small and all have to go through same single file line to security and no suite line.
