Uber or lyft are fine,  Row hotel sometimes has live music, had a cousin playing in in a band there a couple of months ago. There is also a fix rate taxi from jfk to midtown not sure what rate is .

Uber or Lyft would work.  The Row Hotel is close to Port Authority Bus Terminal, which means the Airport bus is also an option.

Public transit and Uber/Lyft is also an option to Cape Liberty.

Here's the fixed rate taxi fare between JFK and Manhattan. $52 plus applicable surcharges, tips and tolls.

Trips between Manhattan and John F. Kennedy Airport (JFK) in either direction:

  • $52
  • Plus 50 cents MTA State Surcharge.
  • Plus 30 cents Improvement Surcharge.
  • $4.50 rush hour surcharge (4pm to 8pm weekdays, excluding legal holidays).
  • Plus New York State Congestion Surcharge of $2.50 (Yellow Taxi) or $2.75 (Green Taxi and FHV) or 75 cents (any shared ride) for all trips that begin, end or pass through Manhattan south of 96th Street.
  • Plus tips and any tolls.
  • The on-screen rate message should read "Rate #2- JFK Airport."

In addition to Uber and Lyft, car services Carmel Limo and Dial 7 are good for trips between JFK airport and Manhattan or Manhattan and Cape Liberty. i wouldn't call any of these choices better than the other. They all work well.

Taxi works out to about $75 from JFK to Manhattan with tip.  You won't save much with Uber/Lyft and can pay more if you arrive during a "surge pricing" time
