Horizon Anytime Dining if we have late seating?

Recommended Posts

Leaving on Horizon this weekend and have some friends that booked same cruise. When we booked we reserved the late dinner seating but our friends have anytime seating. Can we occasionally join them at anytime seating dining room? They can’t get late seating with us, it’s sold out.

Technically, no.

You should talk to the Maitre D if you want to get the same assignment.

How accessible is the Maitre D? Tried this on other cruises and there was a lengthy line of people waiting.

There will be a line, how long who knows?  Bring a book or dine seperately, since talking to the Maitre'D is the only way to find out if it's possible to change your dining time from late to ATD.  You can chat with him during your 1st night's dinner as well.

You will not be able to go back and forth between late and any time dining though, it's one or the other.  A for fee alternative is to arrange specialty dining reservations for the 4 of you on some or all of your cruise.

Enjoy your cruise!

I would also make an ask on John Heald's FB page.  He often makes dining arrangements for people.  You will need the names and cabin numbers for both parties.  He will let you know if he was able to make the arrangement before you sail.

I agree with the above.  Have you gone into your cruise manager to see if you can change to YTD, since they can't change to the late seating?

And just so you know, if you go to Anytime Dining, they will ask for your Sail & Sign card and direct you to your main dining room and time.

I know it is somewhat common for people to ask Mr. Heald for favors.  But if the OP doesn't want to wait in line to make a change or can't get it done in advance, with a cruise coming up this weekend, it's doubtful if John or his minions will be able to respond in time.

And OP needs to know that if they see the maître d', he/she or the hostess will take their request and will let them know later, so first night they either go to their assigned late seating, go to the Lido buffet or do a specialty restaurant, until they hear from the  Dining room.

John requests that people make their requests 3 to 4 days before their cruise.  It is highly likely he will make it happen eliminating the need to wait in line.  I have had him arrange changes in assigned times and combining our time with others within his requested time frame.

On our last cruise, we were assigned late seating and that didn't work with a four year old. When we got on the ship, we went to the main dining room at 12:45 as they were to be available at 1 PM. There was a line, but we were out of there by 1:10 and had the early seating we wanted.
