In the main dining room, are tables for two first come, first serve, or able to be reserved?

Is there a charge to use the sauna and or snowflake Grotto?

Thanks!

Reservations cannot be made in The Restaurant (main dining room). Only in Manfredi’s and The Chef’s Table. The Restaurant is large with a variety of table sizes. For the most part, you shouldn’t have a problem getting a twosome table.

The spa is very nice with a number of complimentary amenities. In the locker room find an open locker that will have a terry robe and shower sandals for your use. Store your personal belongings and lock it with your room card. From there you can proceed into the spa area which has a resistance pool, a hot tub, a steam sauna, the ice grotto, lounges, and thermal lounges. I highly recommend the molded thermal lounges. I’ve been known to fall asleep on them. Hit the spa for a very relaxing time.

As stated, you should not have an issue with getting a table for two, we've never had a problem.  Remember however, a table for two does not always feel like a table for two because the tables are so close together you feel as if it is a table for 4 or 6, depending if you have a table on each side of you.

If the question about reserving a table is for the purpose of getting one near the windows, they seem to start at the windows when dinner begins at 6. So early diners get seats closer to the windows. Later it's luck of the draw if a window table is available.

There are lots of tables for 2.  We would always request "Sharing" a table.  Ususally within 10 minutes our table or 6 or 8 would be filled.  We enjoy sharing and meeting other cruisers at the table.

Are the tables for 6 or 8 rectangular or round?

There are round tables for 6 and 8.
There are rectangular tables for 2 that can be 'stacked' to make 4, 6 or possibly 8- person tables.

Same here. DH loves it. He is very sociable and this gives him a chance to chat with new people.

We always asked for a share table.  They seems to seat people at a table for 2 if you do not request a larger table.

They will push 2-tops together to accommodate larger parties, but usually not to make a shared table.

FWIW, on at least two occasions when we accepted a shared table rather than wait for a two top, we were seated at a table for two along one of the banquettes next to another couple.  So we were only really sharing one seat. LOL.

The server treated us as a single table and we enjoyed our conversation with our seat mates. But on other nights we were seated at a similar table (though it might not have been quite as close to our neighbor’s).

Enjoy your cruise!

You won't have to worry, we never had an issue getting the table size we wanted.  Go on the earlier side for window table availability.

No charge for using the spa.  We went into the snow grotto  well, just because and so we could tell our kids we went!  Not much but still fun.  Then into the pool.  Lovely and relaxing.

One of the main reasons we love Viking is that you are not nickle and dimed every time you turn around.

We leave in a little over a month on our next cruise....that fantastic hot dog bun by the pool is calling me (and i'm not a hot dog lover!)
