Deployment 2021-22 booking season begins

They switched several ships around with Jewel and Adventure going to the Baltic.

The motivation in Tampa may be that MSC has added a year round ship from Tampa from 2021.

interesting they’d send the adventure to the Baltic.  Brilliance is a better fit with an indoor Solarium, and the adventure would be a better ship to counter MSC.  But what do I know.  I’m not an RCI bean counter.

Baltic cruises are very well booked at high rates and Adventure is bigger, so this is a reasonable option to make more money. Regarding Tampa Adventure would not fit in the port and in most cases they start a new deployment with a smaller ship. If it is well received they change the ship to a bigger one in the following years ( if possible for the itineraries and ports). I believe it is never just to counter another cruise line like many always argue in this forum. To go from no ship to several big ships from different lines would always be a high risk for all lines involved. You simply deploy ships where you expect the best revenue.

Would Adventure even fit under the Sunshine Skyway bridge??

No.  The only ships that Royal would take under that bridge are Radiance class, Vision class, Majesty, and Empress.

She was specifically redesigned for the 3-4 day market, so I don’t see it being a waste or them changing her to another market any time soon.

That's what I thought...thanks for verifying it.  😉

I still try to duck when Brilliance or Rhapsody goes under it.  😄

Can someone enlighten me as to what would constitute a waste of a ship as ac3/4 nighters or as any other duration?  I'm just not familiar with the current thinking in these matters.  Thanks 💐

Newly Amped (and looking fine!) sister Mariner here in PC sails full (and not cheap) for 3/4 night cruises.  Those short cruises are indeed a cash cow for RCI.  😉

That article looks to have been published in 2014.  It's been 5 years and it doesn't seem like the bureaucrats have done anything so far!

Never gone out of Tampa, so totally forgot about the bridge.

Yes it is bigger so they can make more revenue.   Sometimes if a bigger ship is in a market it’s not designed for it can make for a miserable experience, which we experience not too long ago. Thankfully,  the RCI ships are pretty well designed and can typically flex from warm to cold without too much of an issue.  It would be nice to have an indoor pool on such a route, however.  The adventure has ample indoor entertainment options,  so I am sure it will be fine.

A good chunk of aussies are livid or extremely disappointed with voyagers amplification.  It's nearly catastrophic in our little market.

Navigator is moving to Port Everglades for 3/4 night sailings and Liberty will move to Miami for the 3/4 night sailings for the winter season of 2021-22.

I was looking for a 3 night from Port Canaveral and was shocked at the Mariner prices. I do love that ship, so I’ll probably

pay it. Was surprised that Navigator was cheaper, but I much prefer the Mariner amplification.

I think the new Coco Cay "theme park" experience has a lot to do with it.  Prices on Harmony are thousands more per same cabin cat, same time of year than Oasis was also (before they redid the little island).

Cash cow for RCI for sure.  😮

I am on Mariner on the 6th for four nights.

The Voyager issue is the same thing that has happened to every ship in the fleet that has been 'amplified'

72 new cabins on Voyager mean heavily reduced public areas.

The fitness center and spa is now aft and not in the prime location with wonderful views on deck 11 and 12 and greatly reduced.

The 2 level Vault disco was removed and replaced with cabins and a Giovanni's Table.

The Connoisseur Club was converted to a small Diamond lounge and the ship looses the only smoking space besides the Casino.

The running track was reduced due to forward cabins. The viewing of the bridge removed. Forward public spaces removed for cabins.

Deck 14 Diamond Event moved to lower deck 5. Card room eliminated. Isumi takes it's place/  19th hole public area removed for Suite lounge only for suite guests.

It’s really sad. It was enough when all of the Voyager/Freedom class received the first set of additional cabins on Deck 12, but they did a beautiful job with the amplifications if Independence and Mariner. Starting with Navigator, they’re just butchering those beautiful ships flows and space ratios. As somebody who uses the area a lot, the relocation and degradation of the spa and fitness center on Navigator took a lot away from the ship and made it feel terribly chopped up the way they redesigned deck 12 😞

Great post. Many of those changes which have been made on all “amplified” ships are not of interest to us. Common thread is more $$ venues, less common space, more stratification of the cruise experience.

But sales are up so it works for RCCL.
