Parking after the Cruise at MCT

Recommended Posts

Can I put luggage in the car and leave it for the day after the Carnival cruise?

Come back 5pm ish same day to pick it up?

Wanted to do a 9/11 Museum tour and maybe one other thing.

If you disembark on a Sunday, it's not difficult to find free, on-street parking in the downtown Financial Districts, check & read those "No Parking" signs carefully as they can be very confusing - if you are comfortable with unattended bags stored in the trunk or back of the SUV/minivan (tips: cover it up with large, black plastic bags as a "tarp" cover, even with tinted rear windows) - then walk over a few blocks to see the Memorial.

Otherwise, private/commercial garages in the area usually aren't full or busy on weekends and generally have all day specials for $20 to $30 plus about 19% taxes/surcharges ... minivan/suv will be $10 to $15, even $20 extra - that will be secured & off-street.   Best deals are before 10 or 11 am until closing, as not all of them stay open late - Google is your parking friend.

Thank you for the link and info. We get back in on a Thursday.

We'll set up another trip to NYC.

We are just going to disembark and be home by 11am.

Thanks again all.

I favor the suggestion of parking in a commercial garage. Parking on the street with out of state license plates increases the chance of problems. Why worry.

Free or "low-cost" on-street public parking is out of the question on a weekday in most of Manhattan is out of the question, definitely none in Lower Manhattan before 6 or 7 p.m. - whether your plates from in or out-of-state.

Commercial/private garage parking will cost 3/4 of an arm and 1/2 a leg, at least. Minivan, suv, pickup truck or XL/T & oversized vehicles will cost 1/4 more.

Some folks reported relocating & moving their vehicle just several blocks south right on 12th Avenue to the Circle Line cruise terminal parking lot for several hours - (upon leaving the rooftop pier parking) check their website for prices, leave & "hide" your luggage carefully and never in plain sights - take all valuables with you in a day pack.
