Can you bring Wine onto the ship from ports of call on Mediterranean cruises without paying a corkage fee?

Officially, no.

In practice, sometimes yes, and sometimes no.

And there was no reason to specify a particular region.  Bringing wine on during a cruise at ports of call is the same process all over the world.  You can do it and sometimes you may be assessed and sometimes not.  However, any bottle not pre-paid for corkage is subject to the corkage fee when you take it into a restaurant or bar to be opened for the first time.

We did on Royal. You can bring one bottle per person. Put a wine opener in your checked bag. Ask your cabin steward for a couple of glasses. Open the bottle in your cabin and enjoy anywhere on the ship!

Outside of the USA, especially San Pedro they don’t really care. But that’s in the past, next week it maybe different. When you board in Barcelona the duty free shop in the cruise terminal is after security so in theory it’s how much can you carry.

Huh.....I always thought San Pedro was within the US.

One of the strictest embarkation ports. 🤔

I was trying to say San Pedro port is very strict. If you are embarking outside of the US no one cares.
