Lpaggeot Posted August 20, 2019 #1 Share Posted August 20, 2019 We will be in Cabo for the day from our cruise as a family. We are wanting to take a snorkeling trip together, but our granddaughter is 1 year old. She will not be snorkeling but would be on the boat with her mother. Will she be allowed to go on the excursion with us? Any help would be greatly appreciated!
GradUT Posted August 21, 2019 #2 Share Posted August 21, 2019 You’d need to contact the individual boat companies if you are doing a private excursion or check the details on the Shore Excursions section of your cruise ship’s website if you plan to take a ship’s excursion. I just finished booking our snorkel trip in Cabo as a ship’s excursion with Carnival and they all had a minimum age of 8 years old.

riffatsea Posted August 21, 2019 #4 Share Posted August 21, 2019 Would you ordinarily take a 1 year old out on a boat? I don't even know if there are life jackets small enough for that age? Has she been pool trained to know what to do if she gets dumped in the water? Stuff happens! We have seen adults drown when they were not prepared properly for water activities.
Lpaggeot Posted August 22, 2019 Author #5 Share Posted August 22, 2019 Thank you everyone for your comments. I've taken a 1 year old out on a boat before and yes they do have life jackets for that age. She would not be getting in the water....she would be staying on the boat with her mother while we were snorkeling. We are just trying to keep the whole family together versus leaving the mother on shore for hours while we are snorkeling.
scottca075 Posted August 28, 2019 #6 Share Posted August 28, 2019 I think Riff's comments were spot on. Maybe you have taken a 1 year old out on a boat before and there may be life jackets for infants and toddlers, but will the company in PV have life jackets for toddlers. Taking a baby out on your own boat (maybe in a lake?) is different than a commercial boat in the Pacific Ocean. When you have a baby you can't always do the things you'd like. Even the private excursion that TMR2 recommended has a "recommendation" of ages 5 and up. If you told people which cruise line you are on, you might find people who have been on that specific company's excursion and give you a more focused answer than the general answers you have received. Not trying to be snarky, just throwing out some comments and observations.
crossfitmama Posted August 30, 2019 #7 Share Posted August 30, 2019 We have taken our kids on boats since they were little and they had vests for all sizes. The little kid ones have straps that go between their legs.
