Kalousdi Posted August 22, 2019 #1 Share Posted August 22, 2019 Hello, I have a really odd question that I have not seen asked so I figured I would ask. Does anyone know if a personal check would be cashed on board to avoid having to use the ATM and being charged fees? If checks are cashed is there a limit as to how much they will give and are there any fees? Thanks in advance for any information. Mk
Clarea Posted August 22, 2019 #2 Share Posted August 22, 2019 Here is an old thread that covers travelers checks and personal checks, however I am unable to confirm this info on Royal's current website, so it's possible they don't do it anymore: https://boards.cruisecritic.com.au/topic/2142248-travelers-checks/
njkruzer Posted August 22, 2019 #3 Share Posted August 22, 2019 The last time I did it the limit was 1 check for $200 during a cruise. If you have an Amex card its $250. One other thing is that will also cash travelers checks in larger amounts.

voyager70 Posted August 22, 2019 #5 Share Posted August 22, 2019 Not trying to be a smart a$$ but why not just take the cash out from your locai ATM before you go
Merion_Mom Posted August 22, 2019 #6 Share Posted August 22, 2019 You can cash one check per voyage for up to $200. There is no greater amount for AMEX any more.

We used traveler's checks in 2015 for our med cruise, but the ship also had a limit on how much they would cash onboard of these per cruise, too- it was higher- like maybe $1,000 or $1,200 per cabin.
