Car Service from LaGuardia Airport Marriott to Red Hook Cruise Terminal

Recommended Posts

Cruising out of New York (Red Hook) in the fall and was given the name of a car service to use from hotel near LGA to Red Hook. Just wondering if anyone has used this service and what your experience was like. Would you use them again? The company is Arecibo Car Service out of Brooklyn. Thanks for your help!

Just at first glance this sort of just looks like a 3rd party dispatch company like the bigger Dial 7 or Carmel. In all likelihood this company doesn't own or operate the car you'll get in-- just farms the job out to a pool of drivers for a cut of the rate. I don't think you'll necessarily have a bad experience but at least know what you are purchasing.

Personally I would just hop in an Uber or Lyft which clocks in at around $50. A taxi would be a little on the expensive side here-- most likely $70-80, possibly more because its metered and you could hit traffic. If you get a good price on the car service though, by all means. Might work out well.

Arecibo Car Service is a neighborhood-based, brick & mortar local service operating 24/7 on 5th Avenue in Park Slope, Brooklyn - other BCT cruisers has been using them just fine, especially from the Red Hook pier as they are nearby.  If you pre-book them ahead for a pickup near your LGA hotel, should be fine - it's not your first tier TLC-licensed car service - perhaps half a click behind Dial 7 and Carmel with a citywide & regional presence and dispatch bases.

We have "corporate" accounts with 2 other Sunset Park based car services, Mega & Bell for short rides within Brooklyn area for "business" runs on a voucher system ... although I don't recommend them as they don't "like" to send a car out to Queens/LGA empty to pickup for a one-way only back to Red Hook.  I am surprised that the hotel doesn't have their favorite local car service nearby, but Arecibo drivers would definitely know their way around the area & shortcut to Pier 12 ... w/o using Waze or GPS navigation.

Compare those confirmed price quotes for car services, including Carmel & Dial 7 as they do not impose surge/congestion pricing, unlike & depending ...  As always, YMMV.

The hotel certainly has their preferred vendor, who kicks back a nice fee for their referrals.  Stick to Carmel and Dial 7 and perhaps Arecibo as mking suggests.  Never use the hotel's suggestion.

Agree ++ Dial 7 and Carmel are reliable.
