I took my answer from the P&O official website.

Assuming you are Sailing from UK and first port in USA is San Francisco - I’ll use either address of port or the ship’s agent in San Francisco

Don’t know either.  Very complicated

Quite easy

Just put  Address Line 1

Ship name,

Address Line 2

In Transit .  San Francisco .  (If first Port) or whatever Place your in for your first arrival

State

CA or wherever.

Telephone number of the ship.  00870  plus

Arcadia

773238012 / 783254634

Aurora

764906755 / 764906754

Azura

765050836 / 765050839

Britannia

773929606 / 773929608

Oceana

773153693  /773153017

Ventura

764843559 764843562

Obviously if you are arriving and using a Hotel then you put that address in.

You don't have to put a phone number in - just put in 000000000

The following is taken from the P&O webpage. Very straight forward

"If you are travelling to the US on board one of our ships and you are not staying ashore, you are classed as 'in transit' and can select this during the application process.

Alternatively you can select 'Unknown' and put the name of the ship as the 'Contact'. If you are staying in a hotel in the US either pre or post cruise - you should enter the hotel details."

With regard to the telephone number, I guess if you know the phone number of the ship, fine. I've completed 5 or 6 ESTAs  and have never put a phone number in.

I put in transit (itinerary is USA and Canada) and didn't put any phone numbers.

Being on an excursion is totally different to staying in the US.

You are in transit. You are not staying in USA, but travelling through.

Yes I was going to do a group one for my husband and me but gave up and we did individual ones a few weeks ago.  I put In Transit and it was accepted.  I too discovered afterwards that P&O say to put that and it was fine.  I must admit I found it a stressful experience!

Make sure you are on the US Homeland Security Esta site.

Third parties advertise and charge more than the $11.

We have always received instant confirmation when using the official site.

Good advice about using the official site. Just to point out that you no longer get immediate confirmation. Usually it now takes between 24 and 72 hours.

Cheers.

We just renewed ours in Dec 2018 and got ours instantly and I printed them straight away.

I kept re checking my status, and I was cleared in about two hours. I don't remember getting any email confirmation apart from the auto reply saying my application had been received. That email says you need to re check your status yourself.

It is possible that you may get virtually instant confirmation, but I wanted to reassure people that they should not panic if there is a delay in the confirmation coming through.

Good advice too especially for first timers to the US.

We just renewed our passports June 2018 and was wary because we have had a few ESTAS on the old passports but Homeland Security have our records going back to 1992 and our first visit to the US so was relieved when they instantly came through.

You may already be aware that if you change your passport, you need to apply for a new ESTA.

I didn't get confirmation of my ESTA until 24 hours later so please don't anyone worry if they don't get instant confirmation.
