Buying Liquor in Tianjin

We are boarding Viking Orion in Tianjin, China next month. Does anyone know if there is a nearby supermarket or store that would sell Vodka and Gin?  Any idea on how pricy?

There are many supermarkets and shops in Tianjin that carry a wide range of alcohols.

 

China has very little tax or duty on foreign spirits, so you should be able to find what you need for about half of what you would pay at home.

Note the cruise port terminal  is located in a new area.  I don't think they sell liquor in the cruise terminal and there are no shops near the terminal.  Therefore, you will have to purchase liquor before you get to the terminal and the city of Tianjin is not close, about 38 miles away.

Thanks! We have are overnighting the first night and have a city tour on the next day so we will either get it then if we haven’t already purchased during our precruise stay in Beijing.

As mentioned above, the cruise terminal is now at Xingang (literally "New Port").

Beijing is the best option for buying what you need.

Tianjin is OK as well.

Xingang has nothing.

That’s interesting.  According to Cruisemapper, the terminal has duty free. But I will take your advice and not wait until then to purchase.

One of the things we found interesting  is the "ghost buildings in the area by the port",  new multi story apartments and near the train station, office buildings that were completely empty.  There were no local shops, restaurants or markets.  We saw a Starbucks sign on a store and it was empty and never occupied, just the sign.
