Am I overreacting? Smoking on balcony.

Probably because you c an walk away from potsmoker.  Cant walk away from your balcony and still use it.

What are you smoking.  OK based on that vaping, cigar, cigarette and pipe smokers could do the same at the pool or anywhere else on the ship. 🙄

Currently pot (medical or recreational) is not even allowed to be brought onboard any RC ships.  No smoking applies to vaping, cigars, cigarettes and pipes. Those can only be smoked in the designated smoking areas.

I am a filthy smoker and make sure I stay in the designated areas.  Its not that hard to do.

Agree.  I'm an ex-smoker and always followed the rules.  I didn't even smoke in the casino as I knew it could bother others.

I assume it has something do to with local laws.  Not sure if Royal has to follow those laws, or it's just the path of least resistance for them.

It's called AGAINST THE RULES. Having YOUR attitude is what places people's lives in harm's way. What part of NO SMOKING represents a tattletail attitude? I'd say it to their face.

Generally speaking, cruises follow the laws of the country they go out of.  No indoor smoking allowed in shops, restaurants, offices etc.  Public spaces.  Is allowed in private spaces such as your home.

 

Like no drinking for under 21s on US cruises even though it is allowed pretty much everywhere else.

I recall $250, but have not seen that in writing in a while.

Per the Royal Caribbean website, the fine is $250.00 (although they call it a cleaning fee).

Someone was smoking a cigar when we were  on our Balcony on Allure. We could not figure out which room it was, but it made us go inside.  Not nice!

Port of call has absolutely nothing to do with it. Jamaica isn't the only Caribbean port you can get weed. 😎

Maybe they were vaping the pot in the smoking area so it was less conspicuous than a joint? We're smokers and on our last cruise, we saw a couple doing that in the smoking area.

I just returned from a cruise (not RCI) on Monday.  As we were leaving Cozumel on Saturday, and standing on our aft balcony watching departure, a woman on the end balcony came out to have a cigarette.  She started to light up and saw us looking in her direction, so she didn't light the cigarette.  She stood there waiting for quite a while (10 minutes), but since we continued to look at the beautiful view off the port side of the ship (her direction), she just stood there with her hand cupped hiding the cigarette.  She finally gave up and went away.  Had she lit up, I would have either confronted her, or called security.  My friend probably would have wanted me to call security.  She isn't very confrontational.

 

I am a reformed smoker and find the smell very offensive and I am very sensitive to it.

 

Earlier this year while on my balcony at DisneyWorld I encountered a neighbor one floor below and off to the side smoking a cigar on his patio (1st floor).  I went inside and called Security.  They approached him from the golf course and caught him in the act and made him stop.  I was very appreciative.  I really don't appreciate cigar smoke.  They also have a "cleaning fee" that is supposed to apply even if you are smoking on your balcony.  Not sure if they charged him or not.

I'm a Non-smoker, and totally agree with the No-smoking policy. But, I personally would rather smell pot smoke, rather than cigarette or cigar smoke. Just a personal preference.

Agree. Plus contact high form weed. 😉Lung and heart disease from second hand smoke.
