Boston: Eating near Fenway before a Game

Recommended Posts

We are arriving a day early for our cruise and managed to snag Red Sox tickets for that night (Thursday 7:10pm game). We’d like to have dinner right outside Fenway before the game.

Looking for opinions/recommendations on where and how early...

Have done a little research and thought to eat around 5pm at either

Cheeky Monkey Brewing http://cheekymonkeyboston.com/ (current favorite)

or

Beer Works #1 https://www.beerworks.net/

Thoughts?

There are plenty of choices by Fenway.

I've been to Beer Works years ago. Was a good burger.

Also Game On. Another fun venue is The Bleacher Bar. It is situated under the Bleachers with garage like doors that open up so u can c the players warming up before the game. You enter the restaurant from outside Fenway.

Cheng:  Have you been to Tasty Burger?  I prefer that to Wahlburgers.  Also near the park.

Anyplace near Fenway you will want to arrive a good 2 hours prior to first pitch to get into a restaurant.  Cheeky Monkey is new, it's part of the big Lansdowne Street entertainment complex.  This area is known for themed spots, but not necessarily great food.

If you're looking for more upscale, Eastern Standard and Island Creek are both fantastic, in the nearby Commonwealth hotel.

Beer Works is very good.

The best BBQ in Boston is also nearby, at Sweet Cheeks.  Portions are huge, so order accordingly!

Thanks!  Think we have some good options to choose from

We’re going to adjust our time and show up closer to 4:30 (with the 7:10 start)

Good plan.  And there is some very good food at the ballpark itself.  They close off Jersey Street (main entrance area) about 90 minutes before gametime and have lots of food stands there, and there are specialty items in the rest of the park, too.

Expensive, but some really good options.

Last I saw, he was over on Landsdowne St., but "The Sausage Guy" has a cart with great sausage and peppers hoagies.

How are the beer choices in the park?

Since Sam Adams is the official beer sponsor of the Red Sox, their beers are the featured ones, but other local beers are available, the major national brands, and Guinness.

Second for Eastern Standard-- we used to always go here before games for a good bite to eat and some drinks. Much better food than you'll get inside or directly adjacent to the ball park. A lot of locals go here.
