When is Hurricane season in Hawaii?

Recommended Posts

According to Hawaii's State Department of Health: "The 2019 Central Pacific Hurricane Season officially began June 1 and runs until November 30. The Central Pacific Hurricane Center in Honolulu and National Hurricane Center in Miami monitor possible storms even during the off season."

Severe hurricanes Iwa (11/23/82) and Iniki (9/11/92) struck Kauai during the official Hurricane Season & your cruise is in the middle of those dates.  Last summer was more active in Hawaii during an El Niño year which isn’t forecasted again this year & so far has had fewer tropical storms than last year.

I’m not a meteorologist but have read that the Central Pacific cyclonic activity is less severe than in the Eastern Atlantic & Caribbean areas for 2 reasons: cooler water temperatures than along the equatorial region where they begin off of Mexico & also due to windshear which disrupts the cyclonic flow of tropical storms in Hawaii.
