Hotel near port of Yokohama

Recommended Posts

Hi my husband, Bill and I are from Vancouver. We’ve done lots of travel and cruising but this is our first time to Japan. Does anyone have a hotel recommendation near the port? Also - recommendations for transport from Narita to the hotel? Diane.

There are dozens of very nice hotels within walking distance of the Osanbashi Cruise Terminal in Yokohama.

Getting from Narita to Yokohama is painless.

In the basement of the arrival terminal, you will find a desk selling tickets on Narita Express Train.

Just purchase a one-way seat to Yokohama Station. Cost is around US$40 per person.

Travel time is about 100 minutes.

From Yokohama Station you can take a taxi to the hotels near the Cruise Terminal for about 1,500 yen.

Travel time is about 10 minutes.

I´d like to add the question: don´t you want to see some of Tokyo before the cruise?

If so it´s better to stay in Tokyo and then travel to Yokohama (about 40 minutes by train).

Hi thanks for that thought. We actually will have 3 days in Tokyo after the cruise and are staying in Tokyo at the hotel Gracery (was highly recommended for location) so - given that we arrive in the mid afternoon from Vancouver on the day before embarking - figured just easier to stay near the port. We’re exploring ideas for things to do on those three days in Tokyo now. It’s our first trip to Japan!!

We stayed at the Daiwa Roynet Koen, clean and reasonable price.  Near Chinatown and less than UD$20 for a taxi to Osanbashi Cruise Terminal (assuming this is dock you are leaving from)  Another option is the Hotel New Grand, you can see the terminal from the hotel.

Sure, then it makes sense... there are some nice things to see in Yokohama.

I you are looking for more ideas, I can offer our reviews. BTW: we also stayed at the Gracery Shinjuku in April. Very good location, but tiny rooms. Easy to get to from Shinjuku station (West exit, bus stop #21, take the bus with the Godzilla on the display, I think it´s the socond stop, right at the door of the hotel).

Thanks again. I’d love to hear more ideas you have. It seems like you’ve done a lot in Japan. The tip re Gracery will be great for our 3 days after the cruise. We’re wondering whether to explore on our own with a transit pass but maybe get a tour for for one day while we get used to transit. We want to do highlights including the fish market but I also want to see some of the quirky places - like a cat cafe ( I think there is one close to the Gracery) and maybe the owl cafe!! 😂 Also want to just wander a bit and experience Tokyo. Your suggestions would be terrific.

We're booked at the Hotel Monterey in Yokohama... rates were reasonable on Hotels.com and it is very close to the Ship Terminal.

If staying at the Hotel New Grand or Monterey, another easier transportation from Narita is to take the Airport Limousine Bus. There is a route that ends right in front of Hotel New Grand, so you won't have to take a taxi ride from YCAT or the train station in Yokohama. You have to specifically ask for the bus that ends at Hotel New Grand when purchasing the tickets otherwise they will sell you tickets to YCAT. We stayed at the Rose Hotel near Chinatown last December which is a couple of blocks away. From Rose Hotel it was a $7 taxi ride to Osanbashi. You just hand over your luggage at the bus stop and they will take care of them until you arrive at your stop.

I have just received this reply from the Limousine Bus website:

Unfortunately we have no direct bus service from Narita airport to “Hotel Monterey Yokohama”.

We regret only 3 buses are operated from Narita airport to Hotel New Grand, leaving at 16:00, 17:50 and 20:20.

We have the bus service from Narita Airport to Yokohama City Air Terminal (YCAT), where it takes about 10 minutes by taxi and it costs about 1,500 yen per a vehicle to “Hotel Monterey Yokohama”.

The timetable and details are shown as follow:

https://www.limousinebus.co.jp/en/areas/bus_stop/nrt/ycat/dep/23/5

We are sure to deal with the senior discounted ticket for the bus between Nariata airport and YCAT. It costs 2,200 yen for an elderly person.

Great information for later arrivals, but unfortunately, we land at Narita from London at 12.35 so will have to take the very frequent bus to YCAT.

If anyone else is landing around that time on Friday 8th.November maybe we could link up and share a taxi from YCAT?

We took the 16:00 bus from Narita to Hotel New Grand. They did have two quick stops at Haneda Airport terminals before reaching Hotel New Grand. There is no stop at Monterey, but Monterey is just a block away from Hotel New Grand.

Yes it is  great service if you arrive at Narita later in the day. However, as I mentioned we arrive at 12.35 so are unable to take this bus.

Hi - Thanks for all of the advice on places to stay on arrival near cruise terminal.  We are arriving on April 9 at 3:15 in the afternoon at Narita and decided to stay at Yokohama Royal Park Hotel – near cruise port (we have time in Tokyo after so decided best to be near the cruise port since we won't arrive until the afternoon).  I think we will try the Narita Express Train - unless anyone else is arriving and wants to share a cab with my us.

I have these transit instructions - In the basement of the arrival terminal -  desk selling tickets on Narita Express Train.

Purchase a one-way seat to Yokohama Station. Cost is around US$40 per person. Travel time is about 100 minutes.

From Yokohama Station - take a taxi to the hotels near the Cruise Terminal for about 1,500 yen. Travel time is about 10 minutes.

So that's the current plan.
