Tonic, n/a beer, and juice questions

We are traveling on the Veendam soon and have not been able to get responses from HAL.

1.  Does the Soda Fountain Beverage card include tonic, juice, or n/a  beer?

2.  Can we carry onboard juice or tonic?

3.  Have often asked, but not answered -  can we carry on n/a beer?.

Thank you for any info !!

Based on our experience:

1. Yes on tonic, but probably no on juice and N/A beer, although some ships may allow it - best to ask ahead of time, so call Ship Services.

2.  Yes to both.

3.  Don't know for certain, so suggest you check with HAL Ship Services before you go.

I have emailed HAL with no response.  I can’t find a Ship Services phone number.   It’s kind of frustrating.

Just call the regular HAL number.

The rep that you connect with can try to find the answer to your question.

From another thread:

We have always had success contacting HAL Ship Services (800-541-1576 / hal_ship_services@hollandamerica.com)

On the Veendam now.  We have used the soda card for cans of pop and tonic.  On other ships they have only provided a glass of pop from the soda gun at the bar or part of a can but not the entire can.  Here we get 2 cans at at a time and keep them in our stateroom.  We prefer diet tonic and have often brought it onboard at embarkation and in ports with no trouble

We are new to HAL and would like to know if they do happy hours or any deals for beer please? Thanks in advance

Yes, there are happy hours - buy one get the 2nd for $2.

There is also a ‘bucket of beer’ deal.  Basically you buy a bucket of beer (6 in a bucket) and pay for 5.

Definitely call HAL but I fear the answer is no.  I’m sure someone else posted a bit ago with the same question and were told no by HAL.  But do check as things can change.

IIRC, the problem was that HAL doesn’t allow beer to be brought on board (and this is still beer) and that most N/A beers have a tiny bit of alcohol (.05%) + the difficulty and time consuming activity for the crew to differentiate between alcoholic and non alcoholic.

We just got off the Zuiderdam.  When we boarded in in Boston We had a carry on that included an 8 pack of Coke Zero, 6 pack of bottled tonic water, two one liter bottles of cherry juice, half dozen limes and two bottles of sparkling wine.  It was heavy lifting, but no problems with all the non alcoholic drinks.
