thanks for all

the great photos

Nancy

Absolutely the best lounge on the ship and you are correct, Mark is the best piano player at sea.

Agree, I think most here would like to see your opinion vs the regulars on Crystal Board.  Assume, that is why it was moved?  Crystal Control?  Too bad.

I'm going to guess that the moderator of the Regent board had to be the one to move it. Also guessing that it was moved because the first word in the title is "Crystal". Seriously doubt that it was some conspiracy as it looks like you are suggesting. 😱

nancygp - did I read that you are boarding the Symphony on 9/17??  We are too - Barbara & Bob from Tucson,  Az.  Have you signed up for the meet & mingle?

Hi Barbara

For the record, I have yet to sail with either Regent or Crystal but have booked both and have cancelled for various reasons. I have also disagreed with TravelCat on numerous occasions as she will attest to. However, was really enjoying seeing the comparison done on the Regent Board and this move rather nullifies her efforts with a true comparison IMO.

Possibly, she can have it moved back with somehow camouflaging the name Crystal? 😉

Many boards have a comparison done and have never seen them moved.

TC2...your move and you play Chess, not Checkers. 🙂

Thanks TrulyBlonde.  Yes - we have had our differences but that is behind us.  There have been many xxx vs. Regent threads that are not moved.  Just a bit disappointed - especially since the thread will all but disappear on the Regent board soon.

Nancy - this will be our 10 th Crystal cruise - booked on Regent for the first time in Oct. -- hope we like it as  much as we do Crystal - the Symphony is like being welcomed at home!!

The Symphony always feels like home.  I think this will be my 20th Symphony sailing.  We love the serenity and love the Symphony more!!!

Whaat Regent ship are you booked on?  Have to say that we are always greeted with a “welcome home” on Regent.  We have been treated well on Crystal as well.

Making a comparison at the end of the cruise will prove difficult.

What rubbish! Why would anyone on the Crystal board care what’s on tne Regent board and TC kindly set up the thread on the Crystal board - I thought i5 was running along very smoothly

Oh well it’s up to Cruise Critic and their Hosts to run the moderation however they please - we’re just the (non paying) guests around here. The good news it’s still here for people to read and participate in

TC - thanks for sharing your experiences with us all

And, before leaving (for the moment), this is our very favorite lounge (that is where Mark Ferris performs) - so warm and inviting.

I’ve never seen it in the daylight! 🙂

(just kidding)

But it does take on an even more special ambience after dark (and lamps are added to the tables) - and the piano entertainer can really have it packed until late into the night (who am I kidding - well into the early hours)

Hoping that this is the Palm Court (what an amazing dance floor!). The chairs that I took a photo of is beautiful but too low.

It is the Palm Court, one of our favourite spots - Did you get a shot of the chandelier? What did you think of it? It’s beautiful

I am always amazed at the acoustics when you stand and talk in the middle of the dance floor - give it a try

Last May, in my first Crystal cruise, this venue was used for afternoon dance classes...one of my favorite on board activities.  We were around 12-15 participants and the Crystal Ambassadors provided partners when husbands preferred another activity.  Beverly and Curtis were excellent in making us feel Broadway bound.  If possible, give it a try, I'm sure you both will enjoy it.

Okay - the best thing about Crystal is Mark Ferris.  He needs to be cloned so that Regent guests get a chance to see such an amazing entertainer (piano/vocal/comedian) that embraces the audience in a way that I have not seen before.

So true - glad you got to experience him

Of course we all wish we could clone him so he could be on the other Crystal ships and river yachts - but I guess absence makes the heart grow fonder so “getting lucky” and having him on your specific cruise is all the more special

I’m going to go out on a limb here and suggest that you and Dennis are almost “Crystalized” 🙂 - it’s been a lot of fun watching you discover many of the “things” that we all take for granted - enjoy the rest of your time onboard

You are doing great with the photos. Crystal regulars rarely tire of seeing photos of the ship and food. I’m happy you decided to continue posting.

Since  you are returning to Umi Uma, do order the trio of yellowtail with jalapeño, the whitefish sashimi, and the tuna tataki.  If you like them half as much as we do, don’t hesitate to ask for another order.

Have a lovely evening

Photos are good, enjoy seeing what you see.  Also I see Dennis was pretty smart sitting in the computer room hiding his shoes under the desk--he better be wearing the right shoes🤗.  Pretty funny that both Regent and Crystal have ugly carpeting.

Sounds like things are pretty even, not putting down words for you, but it does sound like Crystal has better entertainment.

Also I hope Mr. Jason is reading as I like the fact that high end suites on Crystal has a few extra perks, like Car service to/from port, check-in-not just a special line, but being escorted to your suite, and last but not lease, not just laundry but also drying cleaning.  Hope Regent knows they need to step up a bit.  Just IMO👍  No really see this stuff, but you should get what you pay for on any cruise line.

This restaurant alone could get me to cruise Crystal again.  Sounds and looks amazing, a few steps above what Regent has on the Explorer.

I finally can tell the newbies from those that have sailed Crystal previously.  Apparently tonight is white night and you see people (not many) wearing white (they tend to stay together so it looks Ike ghosts walking around - NOT a criticism).

Quiet day - very enjoyable.

RIck - IMHO, both Regent and Crystal are excellent.  My one message to Regent is to put dimming lights in the bathrooms on Explorer and Splendor (and the rest of the ships if possible).  Passengers complain about not having a night light (which there is on Explorer but it is too bright and in the hallway).  The lights in our bathroom dim to a very low level ....... perfect for the middle of night when you are not sure where you are or where you are going.  I recall vividly our first Silversea cruise (in a Silver Suite).  There were two entrances to the closet and that is where I ended up a few times at the beginning of the cruise (don’t go there:-) - I realized that I was in a closet and continued searching until I found the bathroom.😇

Just noticed that I am doing some mild comparisons which, at this point is likely fine.

Since I gave Regent a suggestion, here is one for Crystal.  Do away with the bloody photographers.  They are not intrusive but here we are, sitting in a gorgeous lounge (Starlight Lounge) with a wall of photos across from us.  This is very last century!

TC, following your posts almost makes me consider Crystal again if an itinerary works for us...I guess we could rough it!  Totally agree regarding the photographers.  It seems to cheapen the experience and does not promote an upscale experience.

+ 1 about the photographers. Far too many of them around the ship and on your way to excursions trying to snap photos. I wish they would either eliminate them altogether or make their services and their sales area a little more unobtrusive.
