Pub Crawl...how to?

Recommended Posts

Is there a certain way a pub crawl is set up?  Do we have to co-ordinate this with NCL?

I’ve heard of a cabin crawl.   Not a pub crawl.   But I don’t drink so lol

Norwegian used to do this as an activity.   If you are doing it on your own, and everyone has the package it shouldn't be a problem, just map out which bars you want to hit and make sure its a logical route.  Make one drink per bar, and if that bar has a specialty that should be the drink there.

On the Bliss the 2 ladies that coordinated it let NCL know our itinerary. Only 1 bar wasn't prepared (Margaritaville). The rest were waiting on us. And yes an NCL (Supervisor/Officer ) did check on us.

We had a great time and definitely livened up a couple of bars. We actually had t-shirts made with the bars and magic marker check them off. Group photo at the last stop.

Wow, this is exactly what I wanted to know.  Thanks so much!   Do you remember how many bars you stopped at and how long was the stop for each bar?  I will pass your info onto the lady organizing our pub crawl.  🙂

Had one on the Celebrity Eclipse a few years ago where we hit I think 10 bars. Had to time it right to hit the right ones when they were open obviously. The whole group certainly didn't make it all the way to the Sky Lounge, but I think everyone had a great time. We even ate at the buffet in the middle. Not sure who planned it, but they did a great job. Most of the bars had drinks ready for us when we got there.

4-5 bars is probably a better number for the masses, but I would certainly do a 10 bar crawl again. Made some friends for life that day.

Many of us ended back up at DBH and continued the party.

I have organized a few of these, last one on the Bliss.  You can add either poker, everyone gets a card at each stop, we did cocktail trivia.  Since we cruised in Feb. I brought Mardi Gras crowns and beads from party city for the winners.  We did ours right after sail away, most do it first day at sea.  Stay tight to the schedule first two bars then the wheels start to come off.  We also went to the waterfront for sunset pictures.  Here was our schedule:

4:45-5:00   Margaritaville on 17 (organized)

5:00-5:20 The Local 7

5:25-5:45 DBH on 8

5:45-6:05 Maltings on 8

6:15-6:30 Sugarcane on 8

6:30-???  Observation Lounge on 15

We did it as a poker crawl on the last one I organized, there was a small fee to buy in ($5,) visited 5 bars, draw a card at each stop, the top three hands split the pot 70/20/10.  If you want some ideas about creative variations on the theme, google "motorcycle poker run," there's lots of clubs that do these kind of things (although there's a lot more mileage involved when you're talking about motorcycle clubs)

Thanks everyone...these are great ideas!  We will be going on the Bliss October 13th, Mexican Riviera cruise.  We have SO much organized for the first day.  Hopefully the lady who volunteered for our pub crawl will do this on the second sea day. I will be posting a link to this post on the "other" social media page.  🙂

As we are doing a poker hand in the cabin crawl, I have organized a pub crawl Bingo (hook up a drink with a person's name on the crawl - win prizes for Bingos).  5 bars - 20 minutes to half hour each.  On the Escape - we are crawling the 8th floor.  DBH, 5 oclock somewhere, Mojitos, Cellars and Tobacco Road.  I did reach out to let them know but got the canned response that Pub crawls weren't offered anymore.  I'll reach out with our coordinators on the ship, when we get there.  As the crawl isn't til day 3, Im sure they'll appreciate the chance to prepare.

I'll let you know how it goes.

Nothing to even bother NCL slightly with.  Just look at the deck plans and pick the bars you want to go to.  I usually pick bars that make the path as easy as possible and requires no elevator use.
