Can't decide - Grandiosa or Divina?

We are trying to decide which to go with for our Mediterranean cruise next summer - the brand new Grandiosa for obviously the newer ship and better amenities or the Divina for the slightly better itinerary and savings of over $400 for our family. 

 

We are wondering if going with a newer, bigger ship vs one that's only 7 years older makes that big of a difference and since both itineraries are pretty port intensive (one sea day for both) if we should go with a decision based on the ship or the itinerary (not to mention the additional $$ savings)?

Mediterranean is itinerary based in my opinion with port of call every day so I would pick one with a better itinerary over newer ship. I took Divina in May and the ship was beautiful and the service was good.

If I had the choice, I'd also go with the Divina. That Med cruise is pretty port intensive!

Divina unless shipboard entertainment is of utmost importance. Divina is a beautiful ship and feels less crowded. I sailed on Meraviglia (and will again without a doubt), but it feels like a resort type, floating entertainment machine type ship (like the largest Royal Caribbean ships). The Divina doesn’t have the “trappings” so to speak, and more readily lets you unplug.

booked on the Grandi for Feb 2020, so this goes to prove my point that we would book a Meraviglia class ship again. We liked the itinerary when we did it Feb 2019, so we wanted to do it again. We do like these ships, but we booked on a Musica class in May 2020 instead of Meraviglia for the same itinerary for a more intimate ship feel. This is one of those personal preference things.

From the viewpoint of kids the Grandiosa is certainly the better choice. And the Grandiosa has so many new features I am very keen to see :)

 

But if you have never sailed the Divina-class, no mistake to book it.

My kids are 7 and 9 years old. We’ve sailed both the Divina and the Meraviglia (Grandiosa’s sister).Without a doubt, Meraviglia provided the best experience, not only for the kids but also for the adults.

 

Meraviglia is indeed a larger ship, but we thought that it handles crowds extremely well. One thing to keep in mind is that, on port intensive Mediterranean cruises, most passengers are ashore all day long so the ship feels pretty quiet during the day. Also, because passengers are allowed to start and end their cruise at multiple ports of call, the chaos normally associated with single port embarkation and debarkation is greatly minimized. 

 

For our kids, it was a nice reward to come back to a nice kids program and facilities after a long day of more adult oriented sightseeing. The Polar Aqua Park, the SportsPlex court as well as the Kids Club on the Meraviglia are all much nicer and welcoming than what the Divina had to offer. Our kids loved them.

Facilities will be bigger/better on Meg class for both adults and kids.

Divina being fantasia class is a classic vessel with many friends both on here and off as they are truly great ships.

Grandiosa is Meg Plus...so even bigger than Meraviglia in both tonnage and length plus capacity
