Guaranteed Cabin - can you change cabins once assigned?

Hi all,

Is it possible to change a guaranteed cabin assignment?  Just curious - thought I read previously that someone had called RC directly to change cabins?

Our booking is with a travel agent, not thru RC.  Our agent advises that if we were to ask for a re-assignment - it would mean being out back into the "guarantee" pool & price of our cruise would be changed to current pricing.  Or we could upgrade.   Just double-checking

Thanks so much!

Your travel agent would have to call.

They normally let you change to any other available stateroom in the same exact category to which you have been assigned.

Ok.  Can we call RC ourselves?

You can always call, but they won't help you change staterooms.  Only the travel agent can do that.

Good suggestion - think will have our agent call RC.  It's not a big deal, but since we're doing B3B, would be nice to have the cabin closer to our other cabin for moving purposes, if it's possible.   We booked these cruises later so had no choice but guarantee.  Wasn't sure about having to go back into the guarantee pool & repricing cruise.

Can always try right?

Thanks.

If you can find a specific available stateroom that you prefer, it's best to have the agent tell RC to move you to the preferred stateroom, without mentioning the word guarantee.

Great thinking Bob!  Will see what happens.

You do not have to worry about the move , cabin staff will do it for you , leave everything hanging and only have to pack draaw's etc 😊

Thanks.  Yup, we moved enough times now.  Hang up as much stuff as possible on the luggage cart.  Just bought a shoe bag to put things in too.  Staff is great in helping out.  Biggest issue is waiting for the cabin you're moving into to be ready.  Sometimes people leave late.  But it all works out.  Figure it's a nice problem to have.

GTY assignments have been coming so late that there’s very little inventory left to move to.

Yes, you're right that's part of the problem.  RC is hoping people pay to upgrade.  In our case, our agent can't see the cabins available coz all cabins are now part of the guarantee inventory.   She can't request another cabin for us.  Our cruise in not until Oct. 7th so who knows maybe something will pop up outside of the guarantees.  We are just trying to move to a cabin closer to where we are on our 2nd of B3B.  If it happens, great otherwise it is what it is!!

Just got lucky!  Have been checking our cruise.  All categories were guarantee for last few days but then specific cabins/categories started opening up today.  Just happened to see the same cabin we have booked  on our previous cruise.  Called our agent & she grabbed it for us right away.  So now at least we don't have to change for the last two legs of our B3B.    We are happy campers.

Cheers,
