Caribbean Princess: Dry Dock

Recommended Posts

My wife and I care considering a cruise on the Caribbean Princess.  We do know that this ship is one of the older of the Princess Ships.  Any news on when the ship was last dry-docked, and what changes were made?

April-May 2019. Mostly to fix technical engine issues.

Ships are maintained regularly and have dry docks every three years or so.

In addition to repairing the propulsion generators a really nice youth area with cushioned and shaded lounges was added on deck 17 aft. If you sail during a time when school is in session this area will probably get little use. There is a photo on Page 4 of the current Captain's Circle Magazine.

Princess Cruises Reveals Splash Zone

Caribbean Princess which was the first ship in the fleet to introduce the MedallionClass vacations experience will now bring another new fleet first feature. When the ship emerges from a major dry dock in June 2019 she will have a new water attraction.

The Reef Family Splash Zone will bring water fun to a new level by offering new ways to enjoy and cool off for all cruisers.

The new feature will be located on deck 17 aft. The space will also update current Jacuzzi, pool, and bar. Here are all the details:

This interactive and inviting water playground features a splash pool, assorted water sprays and showers where families can enjoy a day of splashing, laughing and playing. The focal point is an interactive whale feature, with ‘rain” from its fluke.

Game Zone

Bringing family competition to a whole new level with oversized backyard games, comfy lounge sectionals, and a kid-friendly bar setting, families can grab some cocktails and mocktails while challenging the kids to a game of Connect Four, Jenga or Cornhole.

New Outdoor Furniture

With a variety of seating and lounging options, from single sun loungers to sectional chairs and couches with tables, he Reef transforms into an inviting space for groups of all sizes aimed to be comfortable and conversational, also featuring new fixtures and finishes.

Just got off Caribbean Princess last week. Ship looks brand new. Was on it 3 times previous and what a nice difference.

The Buffet a totally different layout. All the carpeting appears new throughout(public areas as well as cabin hallways). We had the new shades of grey carpeting in our cabin but noticed some rooms didn't.Actually loved the ship.Bed so comfy and so were the linens.Medallion Class ship now.

Caribbean Princess is a good choice and it was just renovated in May. It is also a Medallion class ship. I definitely recommend the Caribbean Princess.

Can someone describe the updates to staterooms and public areas?

So good to hear about the renovations. We have been on this ship twice but realized it needed a facelift.

You will have a grand vacation cruise on Caribbean Princess.  Sailed on her in Feb.  Ship is beautiful, as is the crew.  Pam is correct;  ships are maintained year round, so every passenger has a wonder time.

Anyone know if cabin upgrades were made to the family suite?

Any pictures of the reef family area?
