Sailing from New Orleans, how long to get to international aters

Recommended Posts

Looking to find out how long it takes to get down the Mississippi to open waters.  Interested to find out when the casino will open the first night, and if it will close early the last evening.  This is for the December Poker Challenge.

Casino opens very shortly after departure. Gambling is legal in Louisiana, so no need to wait until you reach international waters.

Cruise ships spend most of the last night cruising upriver to New Orleans. I have never stayed up late enough to see when the casino closes.

It takes about seven hours to go down the Mississippi River but I cannot say when the casino will open.

Thank you both for the info.  I didn't realize the casino can open that soon after after departure.

Due note that the on-board shops close quite early the last night, as they are not permitted to operate in the river.

As I recall, NCL's casino opens up  about 45 minutes or an hour after sailaway.
