My husband wants to go to Easter and Christmas Islands (bucket list item).  Anyone know who goes there?

Thanks

I don't know any cruises that go to Christmas Island.

There may be  other cruises that go to Easter Island, but it is one of the ports of call for the Sea Princess round the world (Sydney to Sydney for the whole trip). Segments are available, for instance, New York to Sydney. This is a long cruise and there is no guarantee passengers will be able to land on Easter Island. By my estimate, on one in three or one in four cruises, the seas are too rough for the tenders to operate, or for the Captain to be sure the tenders will be able to operate later in the day to bring passengers back to the ship.

BTW, does your husband like the sound of these destinations because they are named after Christian holidays?? 🙂

He made no mention of the Whitsunday Islands, celebrating the seventh Sunday after Easter, celebrating the descent of the Holy Spirit upon Christ's disciples?  Is he not a Methodist or Anglican?

Regards John

More choices for Easter Island:  https://www.cruisetimetables.com/cruises-to-easter-island-chile.html

There does not seem to be a ship visiting Christmas Island.  I would ask on the Australia/New Zealand board here if anyone has a good idea of how to visit...Since the island belongs to Australia:  https://boards.cruisecritic.com/forum/564-australia-new-zealand-cruisers/

Check out Pescado Amarillo's blog (Yellow Fish). She visited Easter Island a couple of years ago when they went round and round the Polynesian Islands on the Pacific Princess. However, they didn't take a cruise ship there...they flew in.

Easter Island is a bucket list item for us too.  We thought about taking a cruise that stops there but the odds of being able to tender in for one day is about 50-50.  So we are taking a South America / Antartica cruise that ends in Santiago, Chile and flying out to EI for four days from there--crossing a lot off our bucket list in one trip!

There are two Christmas Islands. The one in the Pacific belongs to the nation of Kiribati. The Indian Ocean Christmas Island does belong to Australia, but it is used as a detention centre for people trying to come to Australia illegally by boat. Not a good idea as a holiday destination. 🙂

Hi,

There's a cruise line going to Christmas Island next year roundtrip from Singapore but it's on a Asian Cruise Line (Dream Cruises) with their cruise ship Genting Dream. The Cruise is called the 5 night Gems of Equator Cruise which also calls in Belitung, Indonesia.
