Help! Hurricane troubles

Not necessarily true. We walked the entire forts , streets, went down to the sea glass beach and had a great time , two different cruises.very quaint place.

If you like taking chances of being mugged than by all means walk the town. San Juan is not what it used to be 10-20 years ago. I have been cruising since 1981, and have been there at least 15 times over the years and have seen the changes. For a first time cruiser I woud not advise this.

Just got off the Breeze this morning.  Interestingly enough, we were in Bermuda this past Monday & Tuesday - Hurricane Humberto hit Bermuda right after we left.  From what I understand, we were the last ship allowed in before it hit.

I've cruised in September 5 or 6 times and never had the rough seas we experienced on this cruise.  There was only one night of the cruise that wasn't crazy rough.  I still had a great time, but I did feel for those passengers who were prone to sea sickness and for those with children who were looking forward to the slides - they were closed down for most of the cruise.

The only other way the storm impacted us was that rather than arriving in Grand Turk at 9:00, we didn't arrive until almost 1:00 after leaving Bermuda as the Captain had to go around the storm.

Unbelievable that this trip will be dealing with the same thing.

Also debarked Breeze this morning.   Humberto and Jerry gave all of us the roughest cruises of our careers. Outer Promenade was closed a few days as well and Waterworks,  Sports Square Thelassotherapy Pool, Etc.  My cabin was on deck 11 in Cloud 9 but I was only able to get into the thermal suite once without it being too crowded.  88 Keys was played concert style one night because the motion was too much for the performers to do the choreography.  We were late arriving at both Bermuda and Grand Turk.  The latter wasn't all that disappointing as I've visited Grand Turk a few times and had no other plans but Jack's Shack.  The late arrival in Bermuda however caused more of us to feel robbed.

My poor Cabin Steward, Dehvi, was sick a couple of days from the motion, as was a lot of the staff. My Dining was in Sapphire and I was quite glad after Sea Day Brunch and "Tea" in Blush.  Too much  movement in the aft section.  Water glasses were sliding off of empty tables and Several people slipped and fell on the tiles near the Cafe in Ocean Plaza due to the warm humid air coming in from the Outer Promenade doors causing condensation on the cold tiles.  One of my dinner companions also fell on the walking track up on the Sports deck that second morning.  Several of the activities never took place as well.

That said it was still an enjoyable cruise and Marq has established himself as my favorite Cruise Director that I've experienced with Carnival.   The Fun Squad.  Especially Roy, James, Lou Lou, and Josh were also nice. The Entertainers, Especially Josh (a different Josh), who had a great voice, and Garret for his performance in Flick, were fascinating.

I also have to mention that Zsolt, Shemika, Vera, and Iurii, were fantastic at Alchemy,  Actually I saw Zsolt tending bar all over from the Atrium to the Casino. I normally wouldn't comment on that, but I didn't see the others working nearly as much, the bar in Sports Square and the one on the Serenity Deck were closed most of the cruise, so perhaps the other's had more time off due to this.

I can't say I was thrilled with the dining room staff.  Our Head Waiter, Prayuda, was worse with English than any other crew member I've experienced, and one of the assistants, (I will not say if it was Rivaldy or Edi,) was constantly forgetting things when he picked up orders, causing a few of us to end up a course behind the rest of the table on a couple of occasions.  That said our dinner companions (the three that also showed up every night were a great group of retired people who were very educated and socially aware people whom I enjoyed getting to know.

Overall, it was a cruise with insanely rough seas, but still was a great time for those of us who chose to not waste our time on board with complains.

P.S. This turned into a review somehow...
