Casino fare

Recommended Posts

It's a mystery. Some people have gambled very little and received them. (I'm one of those.) Others have gambled a lot and never receive them.

On a recent call to Princess, I was told I qualified for the casino fare, which was almost $200 less then the lowest quote my TA had given me.

Only thing I can relate it to was this: On my last Princess cruise I bought casino credit pre cruise to have some US cash onboard, and it was at a lower exchange rate then I could get at the bank.  I used very little in the casino, but withdrew some every few days to pay for private excursions.

Could that be why I now qualify for the casino rate?

we gamble on the ship, so that is how we get the casino rate.  Our first Princess cruise was 28 night cruise LA to LA  Hawaii/Tahiti - had a lot of cruise days.  At the end of the cruise we got a letter - before we got off the ship giving my husband $850 casino free play and me $400 casino free play, plus a discount on the cabin choice:  35% off inside, 25% off Balcony, and i think 10% off suite.  But we had to book and take the cruise within 6 months - we could not take advantage of that offer, but we have used the casino rate for our up coming cruise in two weeks

If you contact the Carnival casino department they will often extend that 6 month rule

I called to see if they would extend it out, but they said no.  If we had more cruises with them under our belt and had a better casino history with them, they may have done it, but since this was our first cruise, they didn't.  It is fine, we have four more cruises on Princess in the next 9 months, so we will have more offers.

We have been notified on the second cruise of a B2B by the casino host that we actually had casino credit on the first cruise.  She moved it to the second.  Could have gotten a reduced price on that cruise but didn't know that we had an offer.  Have also seen casino OBC show up magically on routine cruise bookings.  Not sure if our TA is asking about it or Princess is just applying it to a cruise without us actually booking a casino offer.

We've had the casino dept apply the free play to an already booked cruise more than 6 months out.  On our last cruise we played more than we usually do.  We both received an offer for a free inside stateroom and a small amount of free play.  They were very nice and since we already had another cruise booked they gave us a generous amount of free play instead.  Never hurts to ask.

We've been getting 35% off of insides for a while now, but they are also supposed to give us $25 in OBC (not free play), but they never do. The casino cage sends me to guest services, and guest services sends me right back to the casino, so I gave up. It wasn't worth the time & effort.

We've only sailed with HAL once, and didn't gamble any more than usual, yet they've been offering us free insides, ever since.

I wish both lines would be consistent with their offers. I appreciate the 35% off, but a free inside is certainly a better deal.

It's frustrating......the line I like gives me 35% off, and the line I don't like wants us to sail for free.
