Best Mini Suite Locations on Regal Princess

We are considering booking our first ever Princess cruise in a mini-suite on the Regal Princess, and wondered where the best cabin locations would be. We are long time Royal Caribbean and Celebrity cruisers, and don't know much about Princess at all. My husband wants to start trying other cruise lines and this cruise works well as far as ports, sail week, and price. We usually book starboard on X ships so we don't get any smoke drifting on our balcony. Thanks for any information, we will have to decide soon.

On our last two Regal cruises we choose CC mini's under the Skywalk.  I know some people are concerned about people staring into their balcony, but you actually have less exposure than you would on a lower level of a Grand class ship.  After day two, the novelty has worn off and the few who do walk across only stay for a few minutes (unlike Grand, where the person above you can spend all day looking at your balcony) and they tend to look out to sea.  The big plus is that the balconies are larger than other mini's on Royal/Regal.  The only real issue is that they are Club Class and you must decide if you want to pay the extra cost.   Happy sailing!

If I were booking a mini on the Regal, I'd want one of the front corner ones on Lido or Marina. The cabins have a different, much nicer layout and are bigger than the other minis. The balconies are also much bigger, especially on Marina. We had M108 back in April of this year, and that balcony was immense.

Thank you for the suggestions. I don't think we want to pay extra for the Club Class, as we want to stay within a certain budget. I thought when we looked at the front ones on the Marina deck, there was a note that you could only use the balconies when the ship is in port? What about C417 or C423 on deck 10, the Caribe deck? Is there a certain side of the ship, port or starboard that allows smoking on the open air decks, like Clebrity does? We like to avoid booking a cabin on the outdoor smoking side.

Yes the cabin description mentions that.....however,

The forward balconies are never locked.

It gets windy when the ship is under way but unless it's extremely high winds you can still go out on the balcony.

There are no smoke issues in the 400's.

Smoking is allowed on deck 7 all the way aft on the Starboard side.

Many years ago, I had a forward looking balcony cabin.  The cabin steward locked the balcony door every evening at turn-down, and unlocked it every morning when he made up the cabin.  So we were able to use the balcony only on sea days and afternoons/early evenings.  But I did enjoy being able to see forward!

There are no locks on Princess balcony doors that I have ever seen and we have stayed in a couple of those forward facing balconies on the Diamond/Sapphire.

This is the first time I have heard this.

What ship?

Can you provide a photo?

Every poster that I have seen here on CC have said that there was no rule onboard about going out on the balcony when the ship was under way.

TIA

Personally, I like the Carib deck

Same here.  We like to avoid the elevators as much as possible, and the walk from Deck 10 down to 5, 6 and 7 is very manageable, and that is where we are headed most of the time.  We try to book as close to mid-ship as possible without actually being mid-ship, (saves a bit of money.) In the C314-C401 range.

The standard balconies are miserably small on The Royal Class ships.

We stayed in M422, it's below the Seaview bar and we liked the location. It was a fully covered balcony and a short walk to the buffet and a short walk to the adult pool. The balcony was still tiny, even though it was angled. I don't think it was the biggest of the angled balconies, and while the location worked on that trip, next time I would select a cabin on a lower deck, Caribe, or Baja because the walk to dinner, or the international cafe, the casino, or Vines was long from our cabin.  I prefer to be closer to the Piazza area.

As I said in my post "Many years ago, …."  I do not recall which ship.  And I would never have taken pictures of the sliding balcony door!  In those days, we used film, and had to pay for the film and the developing -- we were more judicious in the subject matter and composition of our shots!

Ha every cruise I used to take no less than 10/36 shot rolls for my Pentax ME super.

Thanks for all the tips! We booked C417 for January. Looking forward to our first Princess cruise and seeing what it's all about. Now I have to familiarize myself with Princess Cay options for things to do. I'm assuming this is Princess' private island, similar to RCCL Labadee or Coco Cay.

It is also listed on comments on the Princess website.

It is not enforced and never has been.

We generally prefer the MB cabins because we do not want any cabin directly below the public spaces on the pool/lido deck.  Never like waking up to the sound of chairs being dragged around that pool...not to mention the noise from the buffet area.

Do you have any thoughts on the Regal M108 having twin beds?

We had our beds twinned in M108 on the Royal. Tight but worked fine. There's a big window in the wall across from the heads of the beds. Wonderful star watching.

Here is a video of M108. Appears that bed is in Queen configuration. Don't know why the deck plans mention 2  twins. Maybe it means that you can split into two twins if you want to. But I believe you can do that in most any cabin.

This is the only photo I have of the beds separated into twins. They were in queen configuration when we boarded, but the steward was happy to move them apart. This is looking in through that big window I mentioned. My hubby and I are reflected in the window, but you can see the beds through the window. On the right, you can see a bit of the doorway going out to the living area. The tv was over to the left.

I think there are a few cabins on some ships that you really can't split into twins, but this definitely isn't one of them. 😀
