Platinum Plus and a first-timer

Recommended Posts

I'm a Platinum Plus and will be cruising with a friend who is a first-timer. Has anyone had any experience with the Platinum Plus Behind-the-Scenes tour, or the Officer's dinner in this case? Were you allowed to bring your guest?

On the Getaway this past July, they would not let me bring a guest on the BTS tour.

Sorry nope.  It is an earned benefit.   Don’t put anyone on the spot by thinking you’re ok with an exception.

Both these perks are already high demand from people who qualify.

There was some discussion about this not too long ago.  The certificates say for the use of the Plat Plus member and non-transferable.  However, on that thread there was one person who said they always took their young daughter no problem.  Most other people reported they could not take guests.

I am Platinum Plus and cruised in March with a first time NCL relative.  Cruise Next rep let her join me for the officers dinner, but not the behind the scenes tour.

Technically not allowed. But go to the Cruise Next desk and ask nicely. I have seen them allow that in the past.

Same is true of the dinner with an Officer.

This is correct.  However, I have noticed with all the new plats and plats+ the tours are getting crowded.  Less chance for an exception when 40-50 or more sign up for the BTS tour.

It depends a lot on how many Platinum/Platinum Plus/Ambassador-level guests are aboard your cruise.  The more there are the less likely you'll be able to bring your cabin-mate along.

The BTS is a VERY popular tour and fills up VERY quickly; at least that's been our experience.  It's gotten SO popular they actually offer a paid BTS tour to regular pax ($49/each on our last cruise, i think...).  That's another reason it's doubtful that your cabin-mate will be allowed on the tour with you.

I've talked with the CruiseNext folks on several of these tours & they've said they look at the pax list before sailing, determine how many Platinum & higher level pax they'll have aboard  and then plan how may tours they'll offer.  We make sure we sign up sometime on embarkation day either in person or a phone call to the CruiseNext office.

Good luck!  Hope your cabin-mate can join you on the BTS tour!
