Aqualina or Prime C - ever open for lunch on sea days?

Recommended Posts

On cruises with several sea days, like TAs or TPs, do the specialty restaurants ever open for lunch?

I would love to be able to savour a nice un-rushed lunch in Prime C on a sea day for our upcoming TP on Journey,  but this does not seem possible.

Are there any ‘foodie’ or ‘tasting’ special events - during the day - on sea days? (food or beverage)

We try to avoid indulging in meat & heavier foods in the evening... any advice on how to best make lunches our “special” meals? Thanks!

No. Not open on sea days. Dinner only. They will have the occasional event like Prime C for the LCV breakfast or a cooking class, but that's it.

Lunch in the MDR is nice. I like The Patio for lunch too, but it's more of a daytime grill. I'd recommend there in the evening. Very different menu and ambience, but it shuts at 8.30pm so go at around 7.

There are sometimes special lunches like a crab shack for $35.

Either Aqualina or Prime C is usually used for the watercolour class in the early afternoon

Most lunchtime specials are based around brunches held either in the main dining room or on deck

In the past on longer cruises, we’d have an officers bbq; do they do anything like that on a TP?

They often have a jazz brunch, sometimes a dim sum brunch, sometimes a fruhschoppen lunch with assorted wursts, schnitzel, German potato salad,  spaetzle, sauerbraten, sauerkraut, etc.  Don't worry, you'll be well-fed.

Yes, they’ll have that. Probably a couple of them. There will also be a crossing the Equator polliwogs ceremony on the day the ship does that, which is fun.

Is it as much fun as our Canadian ‘kissing the cod’ ceremony, which involves a codfish and screech?

Edited to add: drats, crossing the Equator will happen between Hawaii and Tahiti.

I don't even eat fish, much less kiss it!  Haha. But yes. Sounds similar. All good fun to watch.

On our port intensive 7 day we had a jazz and a officer’s brunch.  Loved both of them.

If you are concerned about heavy meals in the evening, the MDR always has a light choice (highlighted by the initials HC - healthy choice) on the menu plus there is always a lighter fruit based appetiser so no need to worry.  As Marinara says you will not starve and I will add in, you will not be restricted on the range of items you can eat - from very innocent to very naughty and all points in between.
