I've received two flyers in the afternoon post from the solo travel departments of top single specialist UK travel agents. Both state "twin for sole use" and "limited single availability". If this is correct it's very much a retrograde step by Cunard. I agree, very disappointing,

The Holland America ships on which the Queen Anne is based have ocean view single cabins forward on the lowest passenger deck. Apparently, this will be the only Cunard ship without any single cabins. Some of the other lines (such as Celebrity) have been including a fair number of single cabins on their newest ships. Chuck Yes, I saw them on the HAL ships so felt confident there would be more single cabins that on the current Queens. If there are zero that is very poor. I was looking at the Celebrity Apex and Beyond class and saw their solo cabins with balconies and they are very impressive. I have emailed Cunard to query this. If the answer is negative I think it is a poor decision.
richard_london Posted May 11, 2022 #505 Share Posted May 11, 2022 Just had an email back from Guest Support at Cunard. "Queen Anne Does not have single cabins I'm afraid." When other lines are commiting to new builds with single cabins and retrofitting them, these does seem a strange and disappointing decision. LittleFish1976 Posted May 12, 2022 #507 Share Posted May 12, 2022 Not sure I understand people's disappointment over the lack of 'single cabins'. As far as I'm aware there are very few of them and they seem to be more expensive to book than single use of a double cabin of the same grade. Most single travellers - myself included - book a double cabin for single use which is in no way an inconvenience as it has one bed and nothing else that would make it inappropraite for a single traveller. What do the single cabins have that make them more attractive to the single traveller and justifies their extra cost?
Rare 3rdGenCunarder Posted May 12, 2022 #508 Share Posted May 12, 2022 Has Cunard said when more price information will be available? Right now the website has only "from" prices, but there are several price points within a category, so it would be nice to know what the options are before booking opens. Rare Germancruiser Posted May 13, 2022 #511 Share Posted May 13, 2022 The single cabins on Deck 3 on board QM2 are wonderful- even though they don´t have a balcony- those two big port holes are making up for the lack of said balcony. The lack of single cabins is not what keeps from booking QA early on- it´s the very very possible lack of a propper prommenade deck- which in my book is a Cunard trademark! I sailed HAL´s Niew Statendam- there was a prommenade deck- yes- but oh my in parts very narrow and 90% of the view blocked by life boats. As QA is built on the same keel- I fear the worst in the prommenade compartment.

In one of the ports, I was able to take her picture lounging in her window. If you look at the deck plans for QA and HAL's NS, you'll see the same narrow promenade will all those turns. Not at all the sort of deck I'd call a "promenade deck." Edited May 13, 2022 by 3rdGenCunarder

Altho it's been a while, I booked them (when they weren't more expensive for a double for single use) and it was about 60-75% of the price of a double for single use and as they were new, all the furnishings were new. Though I did find the bed quite hard on the QE + QV. The QM2 was lovely. But yes, the solo cabins aren't always cheaper though they can be
johnnylikely Posted May 14, 2022 #515 Share Posted May 14, 2022 What do people think of the Queen Anne prices/itinerary. A little bit out of my budget - £1200pp for the maiden... Eek!

Its been about 5 years since my last cruise and the prices do seem to have risen a lot, I guess that's mostly due to Covid but I thought that maybe as its a new ship they would offer some good deals so they can guarantee a sell out. canoncruiser Posted May 14, 2022 #517 Share Posted May 14, 2022 When the Queen Anne schedules a New York call, I’ll consider possibilities-not before. I used to travel a great deal by air, in addition I have been an addicted sea traveler for more that 50 years 😊 BUT airports and jet travel are now simply dreadful. So I’ll wait for QA to come to NYC-and I’ll check the schedule. If I have to fly it will be long haul in Business Class, I’ll be doing that in January NY to Sydney. Dranuc2016 Posted May 14, 2022 #519 Share Posted May 14, 2022 I am also interested in when the QA will be in NYC, if even just to go get a photo. I thought it looked like it would be based on the photo used on the US website. Also curious as to why they use the prefix "H" for the voyage numbers. Dranuc2016 Posted May 14, 2022 #525 Share Posted May 14, 2022 I'm pretty sure that Cunard will be taking their sparkling new bauble all around to show it off. It will be in NYC soon enough. Maybe they are waiting for a time of year with better / warmer weather.
