Late Night Buffet and food options after 11 PM?

Yeah, we are definitely going to use the MDR room service option a couple of nights.  Perhaps even the Pinnacle Grill steak delivery which I believe is 10 or 15 dollars.

One of the big reasons I booked a balcony was knowing we will have to be in the room early most nights.  Plan on making use of both the balcony, room service and the free movies -- I loved the free in room movies on offer on Princess and I'm glad that HAL does the same.  I had a heart attack on Celebrity when I saw the $19.99 price tag per movie.

My parents are sailing with us in another stateroom and have offered to babysit a couple nights and we have On Board Credit so I'm thinking we may try Tamarind a couple nights too as we both love Asian food.

We think Tamarind is one of the best features of Holland America and regret that it is not available on all of the ships.  We love to eat and love ethnic food.  The cuisine at Tamarind was comparable to a very good restaurant on land in a big city anywhere in the world.  Bon appetit!  And I think your family will have a great cruise!  Happy sailing.

I am hypoglycemic, and always need a late evening snack before bedtime.  We always do first seating dinner in MDR.  The late night Lido has always had some nice small plates with protein, which I truly appreciate.

Yes. I too do a light protein snack before bed almost every night. Helps me sleep better.

The late night buffet seems to generally be open 10:30-11:30 and I think is more comfort food plus a themed area. Think finger food, snacks, and a cuisine theme station.

NS will also have the NY Pizza and Deli available. I haven't been on NS yet but I know on NA the NY Pizza was open until 11:30. Nice to get your own personal fresh made pizza.

And yes room service is really good. The chocolate cake and chocolate chip cookies with a tall glass of milk are a late night fav for us. Dive In is 24 hrs and is great. It costs a bit but the burgers and fries (with dive in sauce) are so good. Late night movies on the interactive tvs and room service are a real treat. Just make sure to call them to pick up your tray when you are done. Don't place it in the hallway as it is a safety hazard. Have a great cruise!!

I don't recall the Dive-In charging extra for their burgers and fries??

Only for the room service.  It's $4.99 a burger to get it delivered.  Free if you go yourself.

For room service they have a limited menu and it is $$4.99 I think per item. My mom just really wanted one of their burgers after hours one night so we looked on the interactive tv and yay!! it was available 24 hrs.

One question which is hard for many of us on HAL to answer since we are not up past 10 PM!

Cute.  Have you sailed the Pinnacle Class ships yet?  With all the options of Music Walk, it's very crowded, even after 11 o'clock.

OP, room service is free (except for certain items) 24/7 and offers a lot of choices.  The club sandwich is delicious (ask for extra meat) and the three-bean chili is one of my favorites.  The chocolate cake is yummy.  Best of all, it's free.  My son orders room service at 2 a.m. after he shuts down the DJ, who spins tracks after BB King's Blues Club closes for the night.

As others have said, you can get sandwiches and made-to-order pizza at NY Deli.  Their Reuben sandwich is superb (again, ask for extra meat).  Each evening at 8:30 or so, they show movies on the large screen on the Lido Deck, some of which may be appropriate for children.  (The same movie will then be available in your stateroom the next day.)  NY Deli serves free snacks until it closes, which consist of wings, popcorn, pizza, and soft pretzels.  Dutch Café is another option, but I don't believe it stays open late.

As for babysitters.  Check with the Front Desk, as baby-sitting services are available on most sailings where there are a lot of families.  I have no idea how much this service costs.

Have a lovely cruise.  This ship is amazing.  I can't wait for our second cruise on her during Christmas/New Year's.

Tamarind is wonderful! Everyone in our family enjoyed it.

We took our 16 month old daughter with us on NA last February (mini review in my signature) and our teen son and mom babysat for us one night. Our daughter was good as gold and had a great time on the cruise but it was a nice relaxing break for us to have a night out. Enjoy!

Thank you @fatcat04 and @sevenseasnomad

Very excited to try HAL.  We are elite with Princess and have also sailed with Celebrity.  I’ve been wanting to try HAL for a long time now so we are really looking forward to this.

We are actually sailing the week before on a 4 day cheapie with Carnival Victory.  I’m not a big Carnival fan but we got a crazy casino rate.   The 7 nights on Niuew Statendam is what I’m really excited about ... the ship itself and 3 new ports for us as well!
