I’m back!! My Jewel of the Seas Greek Isles Travel Blog Round 2

Recommended Posts

You said growing vegies in COS was hard, we're in Teller Co and sno peas was the only thing I could grow, until we got our house stuccoed and DH wouldn't let me staple the netting up anymore. When we were "down the pass" I had zucchini, beans & some tomatoes.

Just love your photos and Vlogs!  What an incredible trip - it would be so hard to choose a favorite port.  I'm even more excited for our cruise this summer!  And thank you so much for taking time to keep posting this week and not leaving us hanging --  I can't imagine how much you have to do with your wedding so close.

Silly (but practical) question - Average cost of using a WC?  Wouldn't want to be denied when the need is great 😂

aw thank you. I gotta admit...being 2 weeks away from the wedding now I'm starting to stress about everything I still need to do...PLUS work and regular daily life. In the end it will all get done...or it won't and it will be just fine.

average was a 50cent piece 🙂 I think there was only one place where it was 1euro

Your pictures are awesome. Seeing what was missed on our 2011 Med cruise because of itinerary change due to storm.

oh gosh. I hope you get the chance to go back!

Wow! I made need have needed to take notes! Your review had been Outstanding! May I ask about your tour and lunch? How did you book it? Unbelievable! Thanks in advance!

I booked by emailing Carmine directly: foggiacarmine@gmail.com  The name of the excursion is Classic Amalfi Coast

It truly was unbelievable! Tell him singinalot sent you 🙂

oh gosh I tried yellow beans last year and got about a handful. I don't think I amended the soil properly for them

last year we hadn’t gone into Castle Nuovo and had regretted it so that is where we made a beeline for.

We had given the last of our large euros to Anna and Chiro so we’re hoping we could use the credit card for the entry fee...alas it was just not our luck. Maybe we’ll have a 3rd visit to Naples one day.

walking very very quickly to the castle since we only had an hour (we’ve NEVER pushed it this close to BOB before)

I realized I haven’t done too much talking about the ship. This itinerary is so port intensive that Jewel is honestly the perfect size. You don’t feel like you’re missing anything by being so busy every day.
The crew was wonderful minus the Solarium bar tender who ignored me on 4+ occasions. Patrick, our room steward, was fantastic. If we asked him for something he made it happen. Our room was serviced twice a day. We asked him on the last morning what time he wanted us out of our room, expecting him to say 7:30, but he told us 8:45 was ok by him. The dining staff were always smiling as well. Customer service (the one time we went) was efficient, informative, and kind.
Our next 2 cruises are on the Allure so it will be quite the contrast!

The atrium entertainment wasn’t as electrifying as I’ve had on other cruises but it wasn’t anything I cringed at either.

We love the Jewel.

I'll say.  that will be a huge change.  We enjoy the Oasis class ships.

I have been enjoying your review.   Best wishes on your upcoming wedding.

we had our final breakfast aboard the ship on Saturday Oct 12.

I had reserved our shuttle service for 9am so we went back to the room, got our bags and headed off the ship. Once again the absolute easiest debarkation ever.

Once the 2 other families in our shared service were out we were off and on our way to Rome!

one of the couples in the shuttle were from our roll call (hi Mark and wife!!!) so we got to talk about the trip, our plans and lives a bit on the way. We had emailed a lot prior to the cruise, had been trying to say hi all week, and it just hadn’t worked. Such a wonderful drive and convo.

before we knew it the driver had stopped and named our hotel. Hotel Otivm is a very short distance from Altar to the Fatherland is located in Palazzo Venezia. View from outside the hotel door:

Since it was only before 11 we left our bags with the clerk and went off to galavant.

Back in May a friend of Nate’s took a security job on the military base in northern Italy so he and his family packed up and moved from Colorado. When they found out we were going to be in Rome they rented themselves and Air BnB and drive down for the weekend. I texted the wife on what’s app and told them to meet us in front of the building “that looks like a big white cake”.

You have done an excellent job on blogging about this cruise.  Wish I had known about Carmine and the Amalfi coast excursion as that was outstanding.  When we were walking around in Rhodes and the walled area we came across this wedding party. Struck up a brief conversation since the were married on the same day we were.  They were married just one hour and we were celebrating 30 years on the same day.  The groom said he had a lot of catching up to do.
