We have a Cabana at Chill Island on CocoCay.  Is this area smoking or non smoking?

Smoking is only allowed in a few desigated areas on Coco Cay.

Well that is what the signs says but we saw more than one person smoking at the beach chairs-just the other day.

And while we ate at the Snack Shack, a woman at the table next to us smoked a cigarette and then squished the remainder in the sand with her foot.

I hope that she was barefoot.

The rules must not have applied to those people.

Cabana prices vary wildly from sailing to sailing.  Best to check the Cruise Planner for your sailing.  They've definitely been on the increase lately.

Side note:

is it pronounced Coco K - or Coco Key?

I've heard both pronunciations

You will hear "k" almost without exception, but locals have told us "key".

An RCI podcast whose name we can’t mention here related from RCI marketing that RCI was changing the name to “key” to align with the locals’ preferences. That message hasn’t reached most of the crew if our recent Mariner sailing is any indication.

For sure. However, I think the signage is lacking when it comes to no smoking at the beach.   There are some no smoking signs near the chairs heading down towards the beach, but one could easily miss the sign.
