darknightsdespiser #1 Posted October 19 Have found an itinerary for next year that we really like. We have cruised in Norway with P and O and really just wondering one thing: Their itineraries include cruising through various fjords in the evening having departed the port, this is a lovely way to spend an evening! Do the Princess ships do this as well?
ProfMHC #2 Posted October 19 You bet...one of the best trips we’ve taken with Princess. Gorgeous scenery all day and well into the night as we went in July. Plentiful sunshine, temps in the 60s, and long, long, days.

skynight #4 Posted October 19 We did the 2 week Fjords cruise in June a few years ago RT Southampton. One of the best. Spectacular scenery. 24 hour daylight with 3 ports above the Arctic Circle. The sail away from Flaam was around 3 hours along Sognefjord. It was during dinner time. We skipped dinner that evening, I think we grabbed a burger poolside. In June there is still snow on the mountains, increasing the beauty.
ukestrummer #5 Posted October 20 we did 2 week there, yes do it but bring lots of money, expensive up there
satxdiver #6 Posted October 20 It is called the Land of the Midnight Sun for a reason. We were there in June and saw the sun 24 hours/day. It could be cold or warm as weather goes but mostly cold. The ship was sailing in and out of fjords so one could easily watch as the ship entered early in the morning or watch as it exited in the evening. In many fjords it took several hours to get out so you will have plenty of time to watch in the daylight of course. Anything you purchase is expensive compared to prices in the US so take plastic money accepted everywhere. For merchandise bought in many stores you can get a receipt to turn in when you leave the country and get a refund on the taxes. paid. In the last Norway port a tax person came aboard the ship to collect the receipts and information to get the tax refund. Be warned though he left the ship just before it sailed so don't wait until the last minute. We received a modest return a few weeks later from Norway for the taxes.

I did a tour in Bergen and we missed this entirely. There was no time once we got back to the ship. Edited October 20 by Coral
KruzPrincess #8 Posted October 20 Yes. I did the 14 day summer solstice cruise 3 years ago. Beautiful scenery every day. I love fjord cruising. I would love to go back. I never bothered with the tax refund.

ukestrummer #11 Posted October 20 WOW, I did not think of that-TAKE the cruise, 14 day for sure. I would do it again
Coral #12 Posted October 20 The shore excursions on my Norway trip were the most expensive shore excursions I have ever done. If you are one who thinks Alaska is expensive, prepare for sticker shock. Even private excursions are $$$.
